Just sold some rubber today, about 20,000 Bahts worth, no discounting for water content, flat rate per kilo 23 Baht.
It has become local practice around here now, for farm gate buyers to set flat rates, so for the seller the wetter the better.
A bit of manipulation by the buyers, they get together and set a flat rate each day as to the main buyers set daily price.
The main buyer in their case is a crepe rubber middleman, he wants clean wet rubber, gate buyers really can't lose if they buy and sell same day.
Other buyers want dry rubber [tire rubber] higher price, but buy on dry rubber content, so discount for water content.
Problem for me and most sellers is simple, low prices mean we need the cash now, can't wait to let it dry and get a better price in a few weeks time.

Good news is the price is going up, wet cup was 15 Baht a kilo at the end of last season, today 23 Baht a kilo and climbing.
At some point, hopefully, we will not have to sell rubber every week or so just to cover living expenses and can start to hold on to the rubber and value adding by drying or processing it.

How many days cutting for around 800kilo? Sounds not too shabby to get about 10k baht in hand?.....sustainable at least?
We would be at about the same level after 4day cut if it was not for discount.

crepitas Not sure how many taps, been raining, but that's one of the 4 plantations, biggest one though.
Gate wet cup price up to 26 Baht a kilo Friday, that's an 11 Baht increase from the low of 15 Baht at the end of last season.
Strange thing is RSS has only gone up 7 Baht at the main auctions, may have something to do with the pull out of the Singapore futures setting prices.

I suppose in your business any bit of good news suggesting an increase in demand is welcome.

The UK is having its best year for new car sales since the recession. The downside is that China seems to be going the other way and the EU is still in the doldrums for the foreseeable.

The increase in the U.S. interest rate, still mooted for September, is not good for countries experiencing outflows as a consequence viz Brazil, Turkey, Indonesia and to a lesser extent Malaysia and here in Thailand.

Are you still considering selling the farm?

Never really considered selling the farm, factory different story, will probably sell it one day.
Never going to have the cash to get it up and running, at real out puts and not that interested in making millions, if I have to put the hours in, now.
Licenses are all good for 4 more years, sooner or later a bigger player will want to buy them, 10 rai industrial land with EPA and factories permits, got to be worth a bit.

Plantations are for the kids futures, good prices and they will pay them an income while going to Uni and keep me in beer.

As to world economics, who's growing who's not etc, given up on the forecasts by alleged experts from places like Bloomberg's and their like, governments fiddle numbers, all just for show.
GFC 2 could hit tomorrow, world will not end, while people drive cars there will be a demand for rubber, price will go up and down, as per the markets.

What I am saying quite plainly Jim is that if you was desperate to sell and your wife was equally as adamant it was not being sold , just who would have the last word , you or your wife? sure you are partners ,partners so long as there is not a major decision to make in which your wife as a say in it

Strange enough, end of last year, start of this year, things looking bleak on the money front, 15 Baht a kilo for rubber.
She was for selling up some of the rubber and returning to live in Australia, kids come first.
I was the one who said lets sit it out, rubber 28 Baht today, looks like I was right.

Been away on hols for a month with the missus and kids. First two season's sales whilst we were away, 26.40 and 31.01 baht per kg. Business running smoothly ie grass strimming, decent sales and monies banked etc whilst we were not there which is nice, especially as we are both normally hands on types.

They are a pest - usually from India or HK . . . You will be asked about certain specifics in an industry and if you can chat with someone over the phone or internet regarding this subject.
They will pay you a minimal fee . . . go for it if you like but don't expect anything bigger

If it's a scam not going to cost me anything, don't think there will be much phone consultations, they e mailed me saying they have tried phoning, no signal, rainy season.

Worst comes to worst, a few minutes spend on line, have plenty of time, will see what' the offer is.

Run a google search on them, seems on the up and up, no bad press that I can find.
Have a spam button if it comes to that, but makes little difference really, none of my money going their way.
They can't get through on the phone, so won't know good or bad till then.

Yes good old Linkdin..got requests from them a couple of times..ignored. Get emails almost daily...add this or that guy to your network?

My question would be: what information could you supply which is not already in the public domain?
