https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2013/01/714.jpg On the eve of his court date, Depardieu joined Fifa boss Sepp Blatter at the Ballon d'Or football awards ceremony in Zurich
Gerard Depardieu has failed to appear in a French court where he faces a drink-driving charge, days after taking Russian citizenship in a tax row.
The actor's lawyer, Eric de Caumont, said he was in Montenegro, meeting the producers of a film he will begin shooting later this month.
A late request for an adjournment was refused by the prosecutor.
Depardieu has signalled he will plead guilty which will probably lead to a fine and a penalty on his licence.
But his absence, and a second postponement of the case, will mean it is sent to the criminal court, where the judges are often less lenient.
Depardieu crashed his scooter in Paris in November while driving with three times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

Kurdish PKK co-founder Sakine Cansiz shot dead in Paris
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2013/01/935.jpg
Members of the Kurdish community demonstrated outside the scene of the shootings as the French interior minister arrived
Three Kurdish women activists - including a co-founder of the militant separatist PKK - have been found dead with gunshot wounds to the head in the Kurdish Institute of Paris.
The bodies of Sakine Cansiz and two others were found on Thursday.
French Interior Minister Manuel Valls called the killings "intolerable".
The motive for the shootings is unclear. Some 40,000 people have died in the 25-year conflict between the Turkish state and the PKK.
However, Turkey has recently begun talks with the jailed PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, with the aim of persuading the group to disarm.
