England v India: day three of the third Test
Shane Warne is out of the pitch before the start of play. He doesn't look especially interested in the wicket, more so in parading himself for the cameras. Thankfully he's got his scary eyebrows covered today - bad tie day also
England's Alastair Cook starts the day on 182 (with England on 456-3) and he's soon up and running
Cook completes his double century off his 378th ball. He's made to sprint for the vital two runs, though, after turning the ball away to long leg
The afternoon session is bizarrely halted for poor light despite the fact that India are bowling with two spinners. This is farcical. The floodlights are on full pelt, the batsmen are more than happy to continue and there is no danger whatsoever ... but just because the light metre says the light is low, everyone is being forced off
Sense prevails and England return to the crease, allowing Eoin Morgan to rack up the second Test century of his career. He reached 100 off 188 balls, including ten fours, bringing England to the cusp of 600 runs
No sooner does Morgan reach his century than he's caught by Virender Sehwag at cover, ending a 222-run partnership with Cook. Ravi Bopara is next up, but he lasts all of 10 minutes and seven runs before succumbing to Mishra lbw
The wickets are falling in quick succession now, as Matt Prior top edges to Sachin Tendulkar
Cook, meanwhile, is steady as you like
Tim Bresnan comes to the crease with England on 613-6. He happily slogs the ball around the ground, scoring six fours on his way to a half century. He even wallops a six to send England over the 700 mark
With a triple century in sight, Cook finally falters. India, who pushed their fielders to the boundary, had their man caught at backward point. Cook was on 294 ... hence the rueful smile
India's second innings begins in disastrous fashion as Sehwag nicks to the slips for a king pair! Jimmy Anderson's away-swinger earned that wicket. India are 3-1
Graeme Swann appeals expectantly for the wicket of India's Gautam Gambhir as the visitors struggle to settle
But he's denied by a contentious decision. Nonetheless, England are in total control. They lead by 451 with two days of play and nine India wickets remaining

I never realized until my time in Thailand, the vast and unfathomable divide between sports interests of Europeans and North Americans.Originally Posted by Mr Lick

Given Thai interests, Europeans are certainly better served.
Being a North American, the moment I hear an English accent associated with a sporting event, I know I'm in the wrong place.
Don't get me wrong. I am not judging Euro-sports vs. North American sports.....just highlighting that it is a chasm so wide that can never be crossed.
The notion that CNN has, to offer a sportscast called "world Sports" just doesn't resonate with me.
At risk of over-simplifying, there is no such thing as "world sports"...Only North American sports and Euro-sports.
