Great job with all these old pics. I picked up a few b&w postcards of Kanchanaburi from back in the 60's, while they were building the bridge. Classic thread. If it's okay with you, I can snap a photo of them, and include them in here.
I believe this photo has been posted somewhere in the thread. This one is much sharper. If I'm not mistaken, this is the official ceremony that inducted the young Rama V {Chulalongkorn} as 'The Crown Prince'...being offered for the people by his Father Rama IV {Mongkut}. So we are talking about 1862-3, as Chulalongkorn took the Throne in 1868, still a young man.
Same ship used in his numerous goodwill/statesman tours worldwide.
