oh and i just agreed to buy a house today - no money down yet - but 1,000,000 baht in the next week or so......
£10 for some sort of school outing and £15.50 for a week's school dinners.
Where are you buying, KingWilly?
3,500baht for the electric bill, 200baht for petrol on the truck, tomorrow will be a biggie though, got to change my windscreen on my car tomorrow, get my windscreen wipers working again and probably get the tracking done and wheels balanced, maybe get it serviced and cleaned aswell
£5.13 (344B) in Tescos on groceries, or provisions as they're called in cowboy circles.
^
How much are a tin of value baked beans in tesco these days.
I remember the great bean war of the mid 90's.
I was afraid to go to the supermarket for months in case someone threw a tin at me.
All in all it came to a massive 34,538.50.
There's a surprising variation in prices. They range through the named designer-label brands to the 'value' products which just have the word BEANS on them <- I buy these and pretend that I'm starring in Repo Man.
Smeg's right! It's well cheap in the UK (or did you go to the US for dinner?).Originally Posted by flash

Well we just went to do laundry and spent about 2000 but we are in OZ
Big C "weekly" shopping ~3800 baht. Higher than usual because of:-
1 box of Chang (12 large bottles): 365 baht
I slab of Chang cans: 445 baht
2 bottles Shiraz wine (buy 1 get 1 free: 750 baht - almost down to UK price )
Probably have to go again in three days' time
And...
Big C food hall - 110 baht:
chicken salad + egg: 45 baht
some spicy noodly thing + water + ice cream with corn (?) 65 baht
^Did you take your receipt to get your 'free gift'? Last time I got a transparent plastic cat - I'm not sure what I'm meant to do with it....
Yeah - got a sheet of plastic for sitting on at the beach. G/f was ecstatic.Originally Posted by danbo
Best one I ever got was a box with "Ovaltine" on it. Thought it was a free sample, but it turned out to be an electric cup heater - excellent for keeping hot drinks hot. Unfortunately, the guy who used to give stuff away like it's going out of fashion has been sacked and there are some real tight fisted buggers working there now. Lucky to get a small bag of washing powder these days...

I never really understand the free gift thing. The missus has given up with trying to get me to take them. I think she gets upset that I give them to back to the girl and tell her to keep them efor herself.
Awesome thread. Rather than one wanker trying to make a point regarding his huge/tiny cost of living -- this is a real-time guage on what normal (did I just say normal?) people spend in a day.
This thread could, over the long haul, bear out the variations in cost of living comparisons people try to make by listing their monthly expenses at one pop.
I won't bore you with my daily purchases, cause I don't live in LOS (26 days) but suffice it to say, this thread makes me smile.
If you look close, you can see my smile.
I once lived 30 days without spending a single cent/baht/yen etc.
I was in Al Karj Saudi Arabia, living in a tent, eating in another tent, working in another tent.
I had the same one-dollar note in my wallet an entire month.
Everything was paid for.
There was no entertainment.
I got really good at throwing darts.

Good to know I am not a wanker then, thanks Tex Pat
I just went to the little shop at my apartment and bought a few cartons of juice, some yakult, eggs, cheese, batteries, milk and the bill came to 960 baht.
just a few groceries.
I wonder how people exist on 20k a month....
Hint:
Buy some rice and lots of veges in the market.
Pork filet at 120/kg to go with it, or better still, some fresh fish for 40-80/kg.
And blend some a fresh fruitshake, Papayas around 20, Mangos 30 per kg at the moment.
No, really, a sheet of plastic (about 120 cm by 80 cm) for all the (Thai?) family to sit on. Somehow I don't think it's going to be quite big enough for g/f, mum, dad, kids, grandma, grandpa, aunt Noi, etc...Originally Posted by danbo
Better still, let the g/f buy it all (and get the Thai price)!Originally Posted by stroller
