I'm voting for your second one or isn't that allowed under these odd rules??

Don't know. Now that the first one is declared, reckon you only have that choice. Jeez sounds like merkin political process. You can't vote for Hillary now either. I think DD was in Chicago too long. Warped his mind. Must have been the water.Originally Posted by ChiangMai noon

It is allowed under the rules, but it means that your vote will only be counted in the second round of the ballot, and then only if the first picture proceeds to round two, unless the second picture wins the first prize in the third round, in which case your vote counts in the first round as long as the second picture wins. Please try and keep up to speed on this, it's perfectly straightforward.Originally Posted by ChiangMai noon

Megahorn's Songkran Devil is a cracker and going through my photos I found this one which I think might feature the old sheila in his.
I recall taking the photo in front of my old house and framing it such that I'd get the lovely young girl on the left. Watching her throw water in high heels certainly brought a smile to my dial on what must have been the last day of Songkran in Bangkok this year.

Taken this afternoon after way too many beers and a couple of cigars. The building the rainbow runs into is right next to the Ratchadaphisek, Bangkok intersection land Mrs. Taksin got herself into trouble over. Them having jumped bail over it this week and the rainbow running into it really did bring a cynical smile to my dial. Oh yeah, the late afternoon sky was nice too. This is my one for the comp.

Did you see those buildings when they were on fire Wayne Kerr? Great night that was, all the yanks were panicking they were going to collapse like 9/11.![]()
Nah I didn't mate, was on holiday at the time, I do recall it happened quite soon after Mrs. Taksin's return to Thailand last time round, some insurance scam right?
Well my first thought was that it was torched by the workers, since the job was pretty much finished already. Maybe they wanted to get some more time on the project? And I have heard a local news reporter suggest this to me also. But it could have been any reason really, insurance, anti Thaksin groups, or maybe even an accident.
It was quite a show anyway (of course no one got injured).
^I thought it was just the coverings that were on fire?
Nice photo Wayne Kerr.
Why does the competition not require that a RAW file be submitted - Is it a photo competition or a photoshop competition?
^ Photoshop is part of photography, kind of like how the darkroom was in the days of past.

^ also the perspective of the photographer is very subjective.
When you see 99% of the photos I take you'd think there wasn't any foreigners in Chiang Mai, anyone who's been up here knows that's not the case.
So like most forms of art, photography isn't objective.

I specifically questioned the use of Photoshop earlier in the competition. It was rightly allowed, after all, art is art.
I can supply RAW files if requested, I'm trying to avoid using Photoshop to improve my picture taking.
^ I respect that, & your photos look great without any post production.
But I look [at] it this way.
A beautiful photo is a nice cut of meat & Photoshop are the spices. So I think a dash of Photoshop compliments what is already good.
just my $.02.

Mine aren't. the specs of my camera are that it's silver, and umm, rectangular.nearly all photos are affected in some way either by Photoshop or the darkroom.
It has 2 buttons on the top - 'power' and 'take the picture'.
Only have a photo program that came with the computer - i can cut off the edges if I want, which I do, and can slightly make the sunshine less bright, which I don't have much need for. None of the other tools are available on the trial version.
And I'm still gonna win.
(Possibly. But probably not.)
Nice pic, shame about the floor standing fan.Originally Posted by extras
