Don't be rude about Spin's pickup truck.Originally Posted by Dalton

Not a happy sailor.
Nice arty picture.
The wheel less axle.
Looks like a typical tie-down job. A few lengths of poxy plastic tie and the all-important red cloth at the end. Or maybe wasn't tied down at all.
Momentum, inertia, angles -- all foreign concepts.
The irony in the signboard of the second photo is sweet.
On the way back from Samet
Something happening in the distance on the Bangkok Toll
Ups! A Pile up....
So here we have a coach with passengers travelling from Pattaya direction to Jomtien down Thappraya Road, now coming up to Soi Theprasit it's a nice downhill run so you can get some speed up, sadly sometimes things go wrong.
First he clips a sawngthaew.
Luckily nobody dead from the taxi.
Then at the traffic lights he whacked a pick up and spun that round into a car.
Still nobody dead.
Can you guess what happened next?
he rolled it
You parked the bus and went home for a sandwich ?
Well here is the buses final resting place, I suppose you could call it parked, it is down by the Hanuman statue which is about 300 meters away from its first crash.
This is a report of the incident a mate of mine made........
The bus lost breaks , it would seem , at the top of pattaya hill and transported a surprised load of korean tourists through what was actually a good bit of driving if the driver was not to blame in some way .
Traffic was just emerging from Thepprasit road as the light had just changed and were confronted by the speeding bus.
With no other apparent choice , the driver aimed to try and go between them turning a (Luckily empty ) baht bus over completely and damaging three cars , two severely and putting a motorbike under one of them .
NOBODY seems to be hurt though !
He then attempted to slow down by running the bus on the soft soil between the road and the bank before using the surround of the Hanuman statue , a sign and the power lines for the same in a vain attempt before hitting more bikes and coming to rest on a large concrete block.
It has been suggested that he was drunk as ******* said but I see no evidence of that in his driving skill to be honest.
To steer down that hill with no breaks and not , it seems , kill or maim someone was amazing !
PS--
It missed me by about 20 foot at the Thepprasit junction !
No upside down baht buses round here.
Anyway he gets to Hanuman and takes down signage from The Jomtien Hotel.
Onto the 7/11 where there are loads of unsecured cables that are just a bit too low.
Of course if you want to see what a coach does to a bike when it runs over it here is a good example.
Hey, the coach don't look too bad, Somchai can have that safely back on the road sometime this afternoon.
And no body injured !!!!! Amazing.
This car once repaired will have it's value increased 100 fold, I hate those ugly looking cars, shame the coach driver couldn't run it over completely and rid the world of one more of them.
Did he manage to hit the Hanuman statue?
I think he clipped the roundabout a bit, that is where the bike came from and was dragged to where it is now, and also took the sign down from.
Tomorrow at this time I will take a picture down there, you will be amazed at how crowded with food stalls etc it is, really amazed he didn't run anybody over, also amazed he didn't have a handbrake to use, also amazed he didn't flip it half way down when he run the left hand side of the coach in the mud, thats pretty deep mud and has some real big holes in it.
I like the policeman taking photos as well.
Thats not far from yer man at the Bakers Oven isnt it?
Could have gone out with a few samples and got a few punters if he was open.
2 Seriously injured in crash as brakes fail on Coach full of Russian Tourists.Just after 10.30 on Wednesday Morning, Police from Dongtan Sub-Station located on Jomtien Beach made their way to the scene of a road accident involving a Coach full of Russian Tourists and many other vehicles. Rescue Units were also sent to the scene of the crash which occurred on the Thappraya Road which leads to Jomtien Beach. Two people were seriously injured in the crash which appears to have started when the Coach, operated by the DJ Transport Company and driven by Khun Somai aged 43, lost its brakes as it was travelling down the Thappraya Road towards Jomtien Beach. A total of 9 vehicles were hit as the driver of the coach struggled to control the vehicle which was gaining speed as it approached the Hanaman Statue curve. A man and woman were seriously injured as the Coach collided with vehicles waiting at the traffic lights at the Tepprasit Road intersection. The driver decided that he would be unable to traverse the curve in front of the Statue and decided it would be better for him to collide with concrete barricades located on the curve. His actions were commended by Police who confirmed that brake failure was the cause of the incident.

Pattaya One News
Not sure if there is a thread for this already, but every time I go to Thailand I see the aftermath of some crash or other. Some are simple things that could happen anywhere, others really leave you scratching your head. For example last week I saw this Isuzu Pickup upside-down lodged against the divider on the freeway from Bangkok to Pattaya. No tyres are blown out, I guess the straight road just got a bit boring. Makes you wonder about the pickups you see with ten people sitting in the back.
Anyhow please add any interesting pics you might have.
Did you just make that up?
Ah that would have been the " other " drivers fault
Especially if the other driver is a farang.
