So, you just happened to have a model of HMS Victory lying around?
^ Yeah, had it for years. It was made in Vietnam.
It seemed like a good opportunity to make use of it!

And Latindancer as Shaun the Sheep.* Nice touch.
*LD has posted as Shaun the Sheep elsewhere.
^ Must admit I was thinking more of Ant Robertson as Shaun the Sheep... for obvious Kiwi reasons. But if LD fits better, then so be it!
Mendip, you mad bro. Long may you prosper.
OMG what have I been missing? I rejected this thread after the first two pages now apparently I have to go through the entire thread. Brilliant these last two pages. :)

If I were to be a dog, I'd choose to be a shih tzu or Japanese Akita, as both are small to medium size breeds & are Asian in origin. I think I prefer the Jap Akita, since it can be friendly but has some bite in it. A shih tzu is just too friendly. :)

^Japanese Akitas
^ Those are Shiba Inu. Akitas are huge dogs. They look a lot alike.
Akitas are as close to the wolf as you can legally keep as pets.
They are known to be loyal to one master only, much like Thailand's Bankaew breed.
Quote:
Akita. All in all, the Akita share as much DNA with their wild cousins as possible without being defined as pure wolves themselves. It really comes through in the Akita's assertive demeanor. Many owners could probably understand just how closely they could be related.
I posted a very similar picture ? Oh, dearie me ! I must be slipping.
No, you are not living rent-free in my head. In fact, I couldn't care less about you and your pitiful life. But as you recently made uncalled-for nasty remarks about me, I am responding with a depiction of your inner self.
You posted the pic on this Fred as you did on another Fred A picture that you looks like the poster..on the 19th 04. I'm not offended in the slightest. A bit weirded out that some old bloke spends enough to much time thinking that posting the same pic of a dog that you think looks like me is just serious dementia . I've heard that humour is subjective ? Nothing humorous there. Sad , actually .I understand your a miserable coonty that hasn't lived an adventurous life but that's probably to be expected given your shit personality and lack of respect for the ladies. Now take a hint and fook right off.:bryce: oh dearie me . Teakdoor members as dogs. A picture that you think?looks like the poster
Your of with the fairies mate. Or do you still remain an educated polymath?
Have only read about it, not watched it, very interesting tail.
tale
It's the one where the owner dies at work and his dog waits for him on the train station platform for something like 9 years, people feed him etc and after dying of old age they build a statue of him?
^^yes, that's the one. The food sellers at the train station fed it & kept it alive since it didn't want to leave the station. When it died, they built a statue of it at the train station. Many people now take selfies with the dog's statue.
It's sad when the dog/ pet doesn't have closure re: their owner's death. In the news here in PH (trivia/ human interest stories), they showed a dog which kept guard at the wake/ viewing of its deceased owner, who was an elderly woman. (It's common here to have the viewing at the deceased person's house, esp if family is poor, prior to burial or cremation). The family had these plastic monoblock chairs near the coffin. The dog sat on the chair for most of the time, and looked towards the coffin. When it was on the chair, it could view its owner from that angle. It was both a sad and "aww shucks" moment. The dog has been adopted by family members (a niece of the deceased, I think). Dogs truly are very loyal.
'To every dog, his master is Napoleon. Hence the popularity of dogs'.
- Aldous Huxley
^ I would rather my dogs think of me as Nelson, than Napoleon.

^thanks for the pics, misskit. If I were to travel to Tokyo, I'd go to that station just to take a selfie with that statue. Sometimes, I don't watch dog movies because they just make me cry. I cried when I watched the movie "Eight Below". (dang it!)
Eight Below is a movie about 8 huskies who were left in Antarctica to survive the winter. The rescuers could only return to the site in spring or summer and 1 or 2 dogs didn't survive, but most did and were airlifted to safety.
