Due to last nights forecast it was clear a trip out of the city was needed, even if only for half the day. Went up the same mountain as last time, the camel seems to have moved on and the mountains have become a winter wonderland. A much easier hike on the frozen ground rather the slippy mud.

It's a good job I put some beers in the fridge last night, today is the first of the month so booze sales are banned. I think it's a stupid law, it does nothing to actually address the fact that Mongolia has a very unhealthy relationship with alcohol. A liter of vodka can be had or less than 2USD- but rather than raising prices and providing actual help to serious drinkers they just ban sales for one day of the month. Some say it is so people pay rent first rather than blow it on drink. With all the money from the mining boom there really is no reason why 30% of the population should have to live in abject poverty.

^^ Looks quite pleasant up the mountain and not too far away. I'm surprised people aren't reaping the fallen trees for firewood.
Was that a rabbit or a squirrel? (Or neither? )

It's a squirrel. They are felling trees, and this is why I could not make the last push to the peak- too dangerous as they were felling trees today.

Apparently, if I put a wet t-shirt out overnight it will freeze and I can smash or snap it in two- this I have to try, I'm not sure I really believe it.
