You said you go there once a month, do you teach English? When I was in China they would periodically send the western teachers out to a rural area & teach the kiddies "Hello, my name is _________, how are you doing? I'm fine thank you."
You make my heartache for China, when I left there I was far from ready to go home.
When I talk about coming to Thailand people are surprised, not that I'm going to live in Asia, but I'm not going back to China.

I am there as part of expat team to construct and commission a mine - it is very remote , and definitely not part of any tourist circuit - the mountains where the mine is are quite spectacular - I will post a few more photos when I am back at work next week - I have a few on my work computer.
