No, that does not do the trick. Water contains solved gases that form small bubbles inside the ice making it at least slightly opaque. Ice is never clear like this unless you boil the gas out of it before freezing.

The other fotos may be ice the first one never.

Seen here are painters atop the Woolworth Building in New York City in 1926. Just looking at this photo makes my stomach churn and palms sweat. How is that guy just standing on that spire like that?
The Woolworth Building at 233 Broadway in Manhattan was designed by architect Cass Gilbert and was completed in 1913. At 241.4 m (792 ft) in height, it remains one of the fifty tallest buildings in the United States, even after a century. Not only that, but it is also one of the oldest skyscrapers in the United States and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966.
I suppose it's just as easy as standing 3 feet off the ground....

Funny that. On Saturday on the Rama 9 express-way before Srinakarin there were two guys siting in the same swing-like chairs painting a new condo.

Maybe not as high off the ground but way above the express-way level.

I've seen it too, painting over the cracks in Lee Gardens Hotel/plaza in Hat Yai after a bomb went off in the basement.

Could be a comic strip in it for Buster Gonads.

So modern day Thailand to New York 1926...

Apparently it was raining Indians when they built the Empire State Building.

Incredibly detailed 1/100th scale models of Japanese warships built from scratch.

You can see the rest of the amazing detail in the pics posted on the two links to this Jap blog

Got to add however, that's a time lapse photo. So it allows stars, so faint that you wouldn't normally see them with the naked eye, to be captured by the photo.
