David Lammy on Kuenssberg, God i loath the fuker, our future Foreign Secretary God help us.
Just the general rail related ordeal of getting from Norwich to Heathrow next Saturday and not be at the airport too early or too late. It's been wonderful to see the family who are healthy and doing well- but the same can not be said for the general state of the UK. What a mess.
Somewhat ironically, flying to Edinburgh this evening for a week's work up there.
Flight delayed by three hours. Not having much luck with airlines this trip.
I was considering a trip back to UK in the near future. I had face time with my eldest son at the weekend. He is doing work experience at home, as part of the third year of his Newcastle degree course.
After he completes his fourth year at Newcastle, he plans to take a year out to visit SE Asia in 2025. His idea right now, is to end up in Australia and get a decent job there when he finishes his travels.
His opinion is that UK is crap and very dreary right now. I agree with him based on what I’ve heard. Even before I started my travels, I knew the UK was grey and dismal, the population being much the same. In my time there, summer was always 9 months of anticipation, followed by 3 months of disappointment.
Sad grey country inhabited by sad grey people. If anything it sounds worse then memory serves. I will stay put for now.
Philosophy is questions that may never be answered. Religion is answers that may never be questioned.
Sounds like a damn good plan.
I'd recommend making that 1 year in SEA, 2-3 years of traveling all around the world. No better time in life to do it, and a career and life is Oz isn't going anywhere. Presuming the visa situation is still aimed towards under 30s. Doing a distance MA while traveling for 3 yrs also good. French bloke I knew came with a degree in maths, got a teaching job in a good enough Bkk school and did a weekend MA, then a Ph.D before moving on.
He has my full support. If he is touring Asia, I advised him to start up North and work his way south to Indonesia, before heading off to Oz.
His two brothers both opted for engineering apprenticeships, and staying at home in UK. If he enjoys his travel, they might want to do it too.
Room for all of them here.
^^^ to be fair the rainbow colours of queerness shine better in the sun.
Mate , you done your time and are retired in the tropics no sad grey weather or people to deal with. I would fully encourage your son to finish what he's doing and take the time as you suggested to start north then continue south Oz isn't a bed of roses either. But it's OK and the weather's nice.
Will his cock get bigger if he moves to Australia or will he have more sexual partners, or both.
You'd be surprised how many graduates from the UK take a year out and end up in Oz doing very nicely for themselves.
25 years ago I worked for an international company in Melbourne that employed UK graduates on Working holiday visas, loads of them stayed and started families there , they have good lives.
Still in contact with many.
Shalom
I think Australia has got a lot harder to settle in nowadays. My daughter did her degree in Australia. To continue to stay there she had to do an "in demand" certification after her degree ( in her case early childhood psychology). She then needed to find someone to act as sponsor and guarantor for her first work visa. A few more hoops to go through before she has the right to settle there.
Good luck to the lass.
Accountants are always in demand, although I suspect he will need in country experience before he gets a proper job, and maybe has a tilt at digital nomadery.
He will probably change his mind with each ASEAN country he visits. He is young but looking ahead to “what next”.
Keep recycling that gag.
Good things come to those who wait.
Whoops, wrong thread.
Sorted, but I guess a pic of the quiche can stay as a moan... it wasn't great.

Jesus kerist. That quiche looks like road kill. Perhaps the oven was set too high, so it cooked the top before heating the insides…
Well that wasn't great. first time in around 20 years i didn't get a winner or placed in the National.
Without wishing to turn this into a cheer thread its also only 5 years til i retire.
Got a message from my Mil in lao yesterday it started of Hi how are you. Straight away I thought oh fuck here it comes, this is gonna cost me money. And sure enough the next message said 1 aircon in our house was playing up but not to worry she has a guy fixing it. 5000 baht and 2 days later another message saying. No. It's fucked need a new one. I replaced all aircons 4 years ago before moving back to Oz a Swiss guy is renting out my gaff and the Mil.doubles as his mai bahn
Anyway I sent another 23000 baht for a new one. I'm.guessing that the crazy hotter then usual weather has really put a demand on the vientiane power grid and as a consequence my aircon shit itself. Thought I would of got more than 4 years out of it though. Bugger
.
We have ended up adding annual cleaning into rental contracts that we split 50/50 with the tenants. We supply the guys. Tenants will never pay to have them cleaned and serviced otherwise, so after a few years they'll be completely terried.
Too right.
a/c cleaning is the owner's responsibility.
