Anti-moan, since dentists are de jour. Went to the dentist on Saturday. Two fillings (500 baht each (NZ$20). Measured for a new 4 tooth dental plate (rugby injury) and that will come to 2300 baht.

If it was decent work, that's more than reasonable for dental work.

Considering dental procedures are usually quite unnecessarily high in many parts of the world.

I try to take one day at a time but sometimes two come at me together.

Got trounced in court the other day, trying to fight a speeding ticket. Magistrate was an absolute cvnt.

Went home by train and found that some local birds had shat all over my car parked outside. We're talking about substantial amounts of poo here.

    ^^ Ouch... Sorry about that.
You'll have to change your nose-picking finger until that one heals. It might feel awkward, the strange digit.

I am supposed to be getting a small UK pension, private fund, did all the paper work, 8 months ago, no problems.
Received confirmation and assessed payment setting to start next month.

E mail on Thursday, can't begin payments until I supply my national insurance number, which I have no idea of, on go on line to see how to get it.

Option 1/ phone up overseas inquiry line, you get to speak to a computer, after 500 Baht and no person yet, gave up.

Option 2/ on line live inquiry, great, send you details and a guy response in seconds with questions, name, DOB etc, all good.
One last question to confirm your identity, last address used in the UK, again easy, sold my house and flew back to OZ a week later.

No, that's not the address we have, sorry can't help, you need to fill in form XXX and post it in to get the number.

Form XXX needs filled out on line, when complete you print it out, but it won't print until all the boxes are filled in.
Same question as the on line text service, except they want the day, month and year you moved into and out of your last UK address.
This is over 25 years ago, how the fuk would I remember that and they have already said wrong address.

No other options that I can find to get the number, sure the pension fund knows it, if in the UK, you just go into the dole office and they will give it to you, but overseas and it becomes secret business.

Write to HMRC at this address with all National Insurance queries except complaints.

You don’t need to include a street name, city name or PO box when writing to this address.

Couriers should use a different address.

Will try sending them a letter and on Monday phone the British embassy, see if they can give me a letter to prove I am who I say I am.

So much fuss over a simple number.

Whenever I get one of those idiotic day/month/year forms, I just pick a date I think was close. Never had a problem. If I don't have records 25 years old, they won't either.

Did just that, but the address will be wrong by their records, yet it is my last UK address, I know this for sure.
It was my house, sold it and jumped on a plane back to OZ that week, so either their records are wrong, or someone else used my number to work or more likely draw welfare.

Not much I can do from here, may be the embassy can help.

David, that address is the same people I texted with unfortunately, complaints etc have to go them to begin.
Next is the ombudsman, through your local MP,don't have an MP, not live in the UK for 25 years.

Will try them again tomorrow via the text messages, but looks like the only way is a cheap flight back, walk in to the dole office, show my passport and they will give me the number on the spot.

Only getting about 2,000 pounds a year, so first years pension will be used on a plane ticket.

Surely your address is unimportant. What is important will be your full name and your date of birth, and perhaps your place of birth in case there are others with the same name and d.o.b..

You would think name, DOB, certified birth certificate, copy of your UK licence or passport would cover it, but seems no.

Last address is it, can get a new UK passport any where in the world, but a simple tax number, you seem to need to rock up in person.

Sure if I owed them money, they'ed know the number straight away.
