I am off to test some real ales at a micro brewery on the island. This is not a moan, just to let KT know that beer making is alive and well down south, if the Junta gets too much for ya.

Once I was positive I heard her say "400 baht" and when I gave it to her, she said "no, no 200 baht". This kind of thing happens all the time. Obviously, it's easier/better to say something rather than punch it into the calculator. They all have them, have you noticed? It's pretty funny, hearing them get something completely wrong. I've only had that pleasure, so far,at markets.

On the 7th of May, wife, kids and I flew to BKK to get a residence return visa for her and a new OZ passport for one of the kids.
VPS is a contractor for the Australian and UK visa applications, we arrived with applications forms filled out originals and copies of everything, kids Australian passports and Australian birth certificates, wedding certificates and every other document that I had.

At the VPS counter, the girl shuffled through the papers, handed them all back, including the copies, don't need. just the application and the money, piece of cake, I'm thinking.

Sign on the wall says 10 day turn around, after 2 weeks phone up, we very busy, Song Kran.
Yesterday the Australian Embassy emails, visa has not been granted as you [wife] have not proven any ties to Australia.

FFS, their visa agents didn't take the copies, as they said not needed, clearly the girl had no idea of what she was supposed to get or what she was doing.

Today had to go scan the documents and e mail them to the embassy, with an attach letter stating, their visa sub contractor is not up to the job and have no idea of the correct process.
Their only interest is the money, which is apparently non refundable.

Yeah, dawg, that's the definition of sadism:
the tendency to derive pleasure, especially sexual gratification, from inflicting pain, suffering, or humiliation on others.

Bee that as it may. If it is any consolation? The bee in question is now dead.

Unless of course it was a hornet.

I got called down at 6 am to remove three inebriated backpackers sprawled out across our sala, two on one on the floor blocking the entrance security door, so....

I yell at them to wake up, get up and get out.

The dark skinned 'French' muzzie guy in front of the door and his N African GF start complaining, they want a free sleeping space, want to use the toilets (I refuse), want a drink, ( I point to the 1 baht/litre water dispenser), claim they have no money, (spent it on alcohol/dope/whatever), want a light for their smokes, I refuse, the sala's a non-smoking area he then calls me redneck, an old man, a paedo etc and threatens to beat me up and stuff,....reckoned they had special stones for guys like me where he comes from, and so on.

They finally pack up and leave and make it across the road to another private house, climb onto the verandah and camp there.

The Thai owner turfs them out too, all the while they're still complaining and swearing in French and broken English and finally go, soi dogs chasing them barking.

An hour or so later one of them comes back complaining that someone's stolen 1,000 baht from his wallet and wants it back from us!!!

The same sod who said he had no money to start with!!! WTF?
He was promptly sent packing by the cleaner.

Midday, I go to the 7/11, there's the 'broke' muzzie buying noodles and coffee.
I passed by him twice in the shop, no more than two or three feet away from him, but he was so out of it he didn't even recognize me.

He spilled his free hot water as he left the store.

A good day was had by all,......

I've done similar. It's sod law teaching us the 24hr value of a crisp dry cider, when your mouth feels like Serena Williams crotch after 2 hard tie break sets, and winning 28-26 in the third set.

    Maximum Value? (Price Discrepancy)

I am sandwiched between 2 stores. One at Panya and the other on Kubon. Normally, I buy cereal and milk from there as they stock the organic Familia that I like and a few other items such as apple cider. However, on top of their nearly out of date products, their pricing is ridiculous.

Normally, Familia Organic cereal is 199bht, but they have since boosted their price to 220bht, today it was reduced to 218bht. How do they justify an extra 20 baht?

As I do my main shop at other places that have a larger selection of organic produce and also buy the same cereal there, it remains 199bht as do other places I have checked.

How can a store justify such a price increase?
