No I shouldn't. It's an absolute crazy idea. Given the fact he doesn't even live in Thailand half the time he's going to take on 3 kids and all the mental load and cost that comes with it is a terrible idea.

100% should not even be considered. Fair play to him if he does then he's a saint. But no, just no.

Hang on, you were mocking my post as if what I had stated was preposterous. It appears not, but certainly very close to being on the money.

The best option would be for the two (7 and 12) to come and live in our house with the grandmother. They have visited many times before and they know us as well as the children who already stay in our house (we have a 7 yr old boy and 13 yr old girl who stay for extended periods). My wife will be staying after our break in September anyway, so that arrangements can be made once a plan has been decided.

This option is possible if I give up Germany and stay in Thailand to help out. That's possible, but it's a sacrifice that needs careful thought since it reduces our future options.

Unfortunately, I think they will want to stay in their village and that's where it may get difficult. I will let my wife work with them to see if that's a viable option.

    ===================
That last bit needs a little explanatory - the village languages are different, although they are taught and speak Thai at school, the difference in local language makes them outsiders.
That would be a huge commitment and life changing for you to move to Thailand full time.
I hope it works out. Kudos to you if that is what you do as in taking in the two children.
My mom took custody of my niece when she was 6. She raised her as her own and it was not easy as she had a lot of emotional problems, but it was the best thing she ever did she says. As it saved her from irresponsible and drug addicted parents who didn't give a crap about her.

I agree with armstrong. How the fuck can Troy manage a few kids in Thailand when he's gainfully employed in Germany that doesn't make sense. Yeah sure he can help out with the money but kids need a family unit unfortunately they lost that when there parents started dealing meth. They are kids and innocent it's not like throwing a bunch of purple persuaders at yer wife's sister to purchase a set of fake tits? That fucko has no empathy whatsoever. I do though and I wish Troy and his family all the best I suspect it's going to be a long lasting problem
He promised to headbutt me, if he ever saw me. Charming.

I guess that my solution would be that he 'never saw me'.

Went walking in the hills yesterday and started off at a pub. As we pulled round the corner to park up, my mate who we were meeting was standing over a woman who had collapsed. As we ran over, my other mate started doing CPR, but I was useless. I didn't have a clue what to do and just started shaking. Her breathing was getting progressively worse, but my mate was still giving her CPR with a defibrillator monitoring her heart and she was still clinging on to life. After 40 mins, 2 ambulances and an air ambulance finally turned up and they said she still had a pulse when they eventually got her away.

Unfortunately, when we got back to the pub after the walk, the landlord said she was unresponsive in hospital and the doctors didn't appear optimistic of any chance of recovery. It was an absolute sickener and the look on her face and the sounds she was making will live with me forever.

If I took one thing out if it though, I will make sure I get a basic first aid course done in the future and would advise anyone to do the same.

Yeah, I mean we were rural, but, still, 40 minutes was terrible.

And, of course, once one arrived another one came shortly behind as well as the helicopter.

If you feel you want to do this

Buy some bunk beds , all kids into a local school . They will adapt . Stability is the key . And if they excel by the end of school then more options will probably be available. That is a long way away and can be dealt with then . Many children from limited means achieve.

If when you and your wife are away for work , then look at a live in housekeeper that you can trust.

It will cost money of course , and only you can decide if you want to do it
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

My flaming moan for the day!

Bought 5 rolls of wallpaper from the local DIY superstore and it turned out that even though they were on the sameshelf ans meant to be the same they are all slightly different.
According to the manager, I should havechecked the batch numbers so it's my mistake and they can't be refunded as they've been opened.
There was no sign indicating that batch number should be checked and matched before purchase.
So now I'm stuck with over a hundred quids worth of wallpaper that doesn't match.
FFs it's like selling you a pair of odd socks or two left footed shoes.

^ To be fair, that darker, pinkish coloured roll on right is hardly noticeable.

DIY is vastly overrated in my opinion. I'm only just recovering from my project last week.

Thats bullshit mate! Go back to consumer affairs or something! The manager is lying. The box or product with have a Pantone number that they need to match. Unless this was a cheapie Chinese version?

A couple of years back my secretary took over all responsibility for her nephew. Her brother is a junkie, and the mother was a (very) young girl who bolted as soon as she could. First the boy was living with his grandparents (my secretaries dad and mum). Not unexpectedly it did not got well. The boy got unkempt, was being left to play, started to have dental problems that were not dealt with. My secretary had to step in. It completely upended her life. Now the boy takes pretty much her every free moment. Getting him to school, tuition, swim lessons. He has some developmental issues, probably because his mum was a junkie while she was pregnant. Poor kid, and poor secretary.

Point being taking care of kids is a long and difficult commitment. There is no way I could do it at my age. Probably could have managed if my missus was still alive as she was a full time stay at home mum.

Troy, you need to be very very careful in this. If you can't manage, you can't manage. That's it. If you do take the kids on it is a full time 10 to 15 year commitment.

I offer no advice either way - but just to say go into it with your eyes VERY wide open.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

^ Thanks nid, my wife and I are fully aware of the implications. Let's see how they cope in the current circumstances first.

At 8.45 this morning I tried to buy tickets for an Oasis concert next Summer, I got in a queue for the queue..

Four hours later I got onto the site to finally purchase tickets and was promptly booted out for being a " bot"!

    WTAF!!!

I've been called many things in my life but a first for being a "bot"!

Out of the 23 people I personally know who tried to get tickets only one was successful.

    Don't look back in anger!

I guess I don't be contributing to Noel Gallaghers divorce settlement
