^ Dilly, you know it's bad form to share members family pictures...
1st year undergraduates - actually, they are really good, many are from Europe/Ruskieland and have done these projects before, so are fairly ambitious. Some are Korean, Vietnamese, etc, who have a weak secondary school system and it'll be their first time with programming or algorithms or making stuff - that's why I chose Arduino kits; they have all sorts of sensors and motors in the kits if the students wanna go to town and enjoy themselves. Also, I gave the option of different processors if they wanted to be creative with wearables, etc.
Anyways, how are you getting on with those lovely looking blue pipes...
Cycling should be banned!!!
^ Good stuff...they should have some great fun. Any language as well? I would get them to write an essay on why they chose a particular language...ease of writing/example availability/reliable code etc...
Sorry for the thread drift...
Only a few of them have programmed before, and I just want a bit of hands on to parallel the integrated processes of automation - it's not really a computer or programming course, I just wanted to add something to what could've been a boring course, and it seems to have worked. We'll stick with the Arduino IDE which is pretty much C functions because there's so much out there. One student who had never tried anything like this before got his kit early and was excited to make a flashing LED and wanted to know what next... I did the basic, change to a different Arduino output pin, change the timing of the flash, add another led onto another pin and make that flash alternatively - he asked me what code, I told him to work it out by himself and ask me tomorrow if he can't (the Arduino site code has variables in purple, so pretty easy to understand)... Very basic steps, first time for some... It's not even a graded part of the course.
^ let them connect a small speaker to a free gpio pin and then write an audible hello world routine.
Yeah, anything like that'd be good. I've given them complete freedom, and they'll only get enough support to get by - should be easy to work out by themselves and by helping each other; might be a nice way to make friends from different nations - probably more than 10 (maybe 15?) different countries represented in the class.
The Iranians probably thought the same.
I maybe selling coal to Newcastle but a Thai company, SUPERPRODUCTS, can supply all you need. Lazada has most here:

Flexible pipes, tees, spray or drip water feeds even programmable timers. Cheaper, easy to assemble and as durable as blue pipes and fittings .
Whichever you choose I suggest digging a trench to protect the supply pipes. After laying, connecting and testing, cover as much as possible. Also makes lawn/scrub cutting easier.
Choose your pipe size to manage, all the hedges, when fully grown and for your driest months. Number of plants x area covered by one plant x mm of rain required per day per sq mm canopy coverage - when fully grown. Allow for additional plant beds in the future.
When you tell your wife you're off to water the plants take a beer, open the valve and sip your beer.
Always have a spade or hoe by your side to point at if visitors call.

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
I really hate the blue pipes... It's all I could do to talk the wife out of blue slates on the roof of the house - it's one of the few times I bothered arguing about anything, I just let the Thais faf about and fuk up the house they'll live in... But the blue tiles were too much!
(We do have lovely blue pipes throughout the house though; not in the walls or anything, just a kinda 6th form art project/80s boiler room.)
Betts, i know you aren't a builder but its hard to avoid Blue pipes for water transmission in a domestic setting, unless you go stainless in Thailand. Green plastic you can have for a change but that is generally for hot water. Paint is your Blue Pipe answer. Talking about colour is there any chance you could Dye your pooch, just for a laugh like.
The wife has spoken about a pink rinse, seriously, it ended in an argument and her feelings being hurt (I did swear a bit and fume like Victor Meldew... ) Maybe that's ok for Dilly's little dog, Chikdoo, but not for my prince among dogs...
^
Did I ever tell you about the time, in the 80s, I went to a party wearing a blue hairstyle (spray on)? I had a pleasant time, did a bit of kissing with a particularly beautiful young lady, but left rather a mess on the walls and furniture - not of the Mendip variety, but rather blue hair spray...
^^ she is a cute little thing although you could wash her more often...

I'm just gonna ignore these childish comments.
This is ruddy serious now, the remote control for the tv has been missing for a week!!
The house has been Spring cleaned to within an inch of it's life, alas no success in locating said item.
