A study of the local beach huts clustered together with some iconic buildings of FRINTON behind them
Super pleased with this one , not so much the painting but the whole thing because I made everything including the frame from scratch , just the raw materials.
My handmade float frames have 100% bang on accurate mitred corners which I have glued and drilled and core plugged through the joints with 40mm long by 5mm wide hardwood dowels.
Been given some separate orders for some frames now.
Isnt life great when your retired and happy and content enjoying hobby life
Your work is getting better and better - terrific stuff, Nigel.
I still have your little Isaan hut on the wall, a very nice reminder of my clodhopping days chestbeating in the jungle.
Thanks Slap ,, I’m amazed it’s survived this long being a pastel , Twas a while ago mate ,, hope your keeping well
An old lady that lives near us asked me if I would mind washing her car for her for a bit of beer money as she has recently lost her husband to covid and she is not in the best of health herself.
I said it would be my pleasure , after as it was a hot day she offered me an ice cream and cold water and a sit down in her lovely back garden.
I went back the next day and painted this glorious little corner of her garden , oil on MDF
once I make one of my handmade frames I will frame it and give it to her , bless her she loves the painting
Nigel
I really do like this one so I'm sure she will as well.
I don't know why or what it is but there are some of your paintings that really appeal to me and there are some you couldn't give to me.
I haven't worked out what is is that makes some appealing like this one but I am starting to think it must be that I like the ones that appear more real.
In this one you have done a great job showing the light and shade, its awesome.
Thankyou ,, different things appeal to different viewers.
I had a lady contact me once just asked if she could come round and look ,, she raked through a whole load of old odd stuff some not even finished lol , and bought with of them ,, let’s just put it this way , it amazed me the ones she bought .
Nice and warm oop north Nige.
Good news about the exhibition.
Sorry I meant here in the Uk in Great Holland Saturday ,, also got an exhibition booked up in a gallery in Frinton for next March ,, that is going to be for a whole month that one .
Ive become quite well known here in the local area now and have sold a lot to local people , I no longer post any of the work I exhibit online but direct people to exhibitions where they can see it in the flesh and purchase if I’m lucky .
We have quite a lot coming tommorow , but unfortunately as you know we are still under many covid restrictions ,, but it is what it is and we just have to get on with it
Congratulations on the exhibitions Nigel
I am feeling the vibrations from this bewt
Hope you've creosoted your fence.
Well a bit of an update from yesterday’s exhibition , I was originally allocated 2 large tables to display on , however when I turned up another artist had filled one of them up with their paintings , so I only got to display half of them ,, however this was a free invite so it is what it is .
Now I managed to sell one there infact the most expensive one , but unbeknown to me someone had uploaded some pics of our work on their fb page and I got messaged and sold another one via online much to everyone’s amusement there .
It was a fabulous event and great to meet other local artists I came out with £135 for the day , and despite her protestations I gave the lady who organised it £20 as I wrongly assumed everyone else would as they all sold , but she told me it really wasn’t nessasary as I was the only one who had ,, anyway she put in so much work it’s only right she had a drink , also some of it will go to the local RNLI crew in Walton .
