    British embassy

    Hi Everyone

I need some info about applying for my first british passport in Bkk. I am over the age of 16, i am a british national and I am currently on my fathers passport.. which he has overstayed and his passport has expired!! How can i go about getting my own passport and getting the visa sorted? Will the british embassy help me?

    Open to any information,
    Thankyou very much

    Nonsense.

Kids have not been allowed on their parents passports for years.

^^ Dunno. Think the law that says kids must have thier own passport, and not included on a parents came into effect on October 5th 1998. If he is older than 12 or 13 - it is possible. However by age 16 they must have own passport - but if father did not do? Possible.

To OP - you would need your original british birth certificate.

[at] Bobcock... I wish i was a troll, Thankyou for your personal opinion but in this situation i need help i donot need to be judged. Thankyou.

[at] Sunsetter.. Thankyou, i am aware of going to the british embassy with all my forms. But i am rather scared as i don't know what they will do?

[at] nidhogg...Thankyou for your reply. I am 21 this year been in Thailand more than 10 years. I was supposed to get my new passport when i was 16 but with a father like mine i would be luckier to get help from a stranger.. He is in his own world in pattaya living his life without any worries enjoying all the Thai girls. Where i am getting bored and worried about my situation. I am old enough to and have the money and support to get things sorted but i am just a little scared of the consequences the british embassy might dish up. And it's not even my fault.

Like i said earlier, any help or info is useful Thankyou all so much.

How have you been able to stay here for all this time with no passport or visa? What kind of work are you doing, as it does not seem like dad is supporting you.?

Your main requirement is your original british birth cert - if you have one. If you do have a british birth cert you should have no probs - even if you do not have the original, you can get a legal copy from UK which may cost you a few bob.

You should be able to get a passport after that but you are more likely to be in deep poo with the Thai immigration than the Brit embassy.

You can always try giving the Embassy (consular section) a call - they are actually supposed to help (debatable as to whether they do though), but if your case is genuine, you should have few problems. Like I said, immigration here may be a different matter....

The form you need (form C1), as well as notes are on this page:

Thakyou so much for your information nidhogg.

I do have my British birth certificate, but i have read on the british embassy page that i need my full one? The one i have just says place of birth, date, doctors name.It this my full birth certificate?

I have emailed the british embassy which has told me to fill the C1 form out and to go to the british embassy in Bkk with the documents and a interview date will be made. Ok so that will be hopefully easy but i'm worfering will they pull the Thai immigration on me? Will they deport me? Will the put me in detention centre?

I do not work in Thailand, but i do have close Thai friends that are like family that are supporting me about getting things right. So i do have the money for my new passport, visa fees and fines. But i'm just so scared.

^ one step at a time. I can't see that the British embassy would refer you to Thai immigration - not really part of their job.

from what I can recall of my birth cert it has name of parents, occupation, place of birth, date etc.

You do need to sort it out, but be aware that you may well have problems later on - staying in Thailand legally is not that easy.

..and sorry your father is not there for you.

    Good luck

Thankyou so very much for your kind replies.

I am going to sort this problem out asap. i'll update all the info on how it goes.

As fr my father, I'm used to him not being here, It is something i have to live with. But once i'm sorted out i don't have to live with remembering what he has got me ino.
To live life you have to step forward never step backwards. Wish me luck!

    Thankyou once again.
