No, cause it was a Friday (I had no control over when I finished work) and I had buggered my back just a few days earlier so there was no way I was hanging for 3 more days to get the visa.

I really don't believe all Aussies should be labeled idiots purely because of memock, many of them don't need memocks help in that field

This is the one that the car rental place in San Fran said sorry...

Wasted about B6,000 on this IDL. The agency in Phuket even said on the license that it was good for 10 years. Hell, it wasn't ever valid.

Thats exactly right. I checked that link with someone who said it was definitely a fake although would be fine in Thailand.

I am not prepared to take that risk though.

Note to oneself: Never postpone until tomorrow that which you can do today

What about converting your current visa to a marriage visa at an immigration office in Thailand?

I didn't I went to the embassy in Vientianne on Friday morning begging for a visa that day, no go they said come back Monday afternoon. I had a herniated disc, both my kids were sick at home and my brother in law was in the ICU unit at Ubon. Would you wait three days?

Thanks for suggestion but as Thetyim said I am technically still on a tourist on arrival thingy even if it is valid for 90 days.

Well I went to Det Udom today and begged, pleased and showed every piece of paper work I could find (including a brown note) and still no luck. They wont look at it unless I have a letter from immigration saying I live here which they refuse to give to me until I have a visa.

I can't get an international Drivers license from Australia unless I can show them my return ticket to Australia. As of this morning I finally confirmed the net dates for my trip home so will book that tomorrow and then apply.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

Do you have an O or B visa memock?

When I got my license I go tthe local police to confirm where I was living and stamp some paper for me, rather than going to the embassy and fannying on. That worked fine for me .

Hehe, no worries Thetyim, I have more patience and will take it from here

Squirrel, I don't have a visa. I got my 30 day on arrival thingy extended for 90 days due to poor health.

Yeah so they keep telling me

I filled out the online form today from the RAC and have pretended that I am in Australia as I still have a current Post box there that redirects my mail. They say they accept online applications but I can't find anywhere that tells me where to email it to so I have Cimboc on the case and he will call hem tomorrow for me.

Well Cimboc came through with flying colours and printed off my email and pic and took it down to his local office and today I got my IDL in the post.
I had assumed it was just another plastic card thingy but its an entire booklet.

Well technically I would assume that you are if you have an accident whilst driving and don't have time (or are unable) to swap drivers for failing to notify your insurance company that you do not have a valid drivers license.
I personally wouldn't trust your current situation.

I do have a valid drivers licence but.

Oh and swapping seats really really quickly would be easy...she only small.

But thing is she don't have a licence, cannot drive even. But then again we could claim that is why we just had an accident !!
