    90 Day Reporting

I'm sorry if this is done before. What is the penalty if someone fails to do 90 day report as required by the Ministry. A friend of mine's on Non B and was supposed to report on September 2005 but somehow forgot to do so.

What's the penalty and is there any way to avoid it?

officially the fine is THB 5,000. Unofficially, most don't get fined more than THB 2,000.

She's leaving the country next few days flying back home. Do you think she will get fined at the airport?

I usually do my 90 day reporting once a year when I go and get my extention as it's a 200 odd km drive to the nearest place and I always forget to do the postal bit 2,000 bhat fine once a year, but I think it's gone up. Never had any problem. I think it unlikly they pick it up at the airport, but you never know.

I didn't do any reporting for three years (I'm doing it now though), only went there for extension annually. Never got fined.

Do you live in BKK Macha? I think some provinces are less strict than others.

You can only report in a province if it has an immagration office. My closest is actually BKK

She wasted her money, they do not check at the airport. At least not that I have ever heard of.

Wonder why 5 grand, usually its only 2. Oh well at least she feels better.

It used to be 2K, AO. They have increased it lately to 5K.

Thats what I heard from one of her friends (she paid 5k).

Believe it or not a friend of mine on non b has never done reporting since he came to Thailand back in 2000 and never got fined.

5K has been the "official" fine for some time. Practically speaking, I've not heard of anyone being fined more than 2k

    bad luck i guess

The way they have it set up now if you never enter the game you will never get caught. They havent linked the borders with the main immigration office.

Because they cant catch you if you never report. My friends are getting caught because they are going through the visa and WP process. What kind of a visa is your friend on. If they are tourist, he has to leave the country every 90 days anyway Macha. If he is on overstay he is gonna have more problems than just 90 days.

With the over stay, and probably with the 90 day reporting, you can get away with it. But if you get caught, then you could face deportation or imprisonment. And the Immigration Police can be very tough.

You must live in a vacuum, then. If you get caught at the airport, you have to pay and MAY get a nasty stamp in your passport. If you get caught on the street - a random passport check - you may get deported. Why take the chance?

I recently had to pay 2000B (or at least my boss did) because when I renewed my visa in Jan at counter A I didn't take those 15 steps to counter C to 'report'! Silly me thought the Imm Dept would take care of that!

The 90 day section is not linked to the general visa section so you'll never be caught at the airport and in fact I doubt whether you could be caught if you were to cease reporting.

I think you are probably right Poolie.
My mate hasn't reported for the last couple of years, but has been home to the states twice in the meantime.

A friend of mine didn’t report for nearly a year and had no problems when exiting Thailand. Also he had no problems when he came back about a year later and applied for a new work permit.

When I came back through immigration I asked the lady when I had to report for 90 days - she didn't have a clue, just kept saying "1 year, I give you 1 year, not 90 day, no" - so, no, the airport know nothing about it.

Strange really, because she should have been the person telling me to report, or else, if I was a first timer, how would I know to do it if she didn't tell me????
