I assume that's money on top of your wages for rent. Just find a school that offers it and get a job with them.

One would assume that in the majority of cases a housing allowance is offered in part to make up for a relatively low wage (unless it's for one of those International schools that hire outside of the LoS).

It's not quite as bad as people make out over here mate, the money's there it's just a lot of people are too fucked up to find it

Just offerring an opinion & based on my limited research into such things in the LoS. Are those places you refer to, the exception or the rule?

Sorry Hazza I thought you was doing some nose looking down

Exception generally (it doesn't really apply to Unis, language schools etc.). Although a lot of 'proper' schools (in and more often outside of Bangkok) offer free accommodation or a bit of extra cash (to the value of the accommodation) instead.

I don't rate myself as any sort of 'good' teacher....but I'm pretty confident I'd be able to get reasonably well paid work if I wanted to. You gotta work it, can you work it, put you something or other down and la la la or something!

Seeking a legal opinion on all this, a Thai lawyer from one of Thailand’s oldest established law firms told Ajarn.com that working with fake documents is a very serious offence and there can be dire consequences if the teacher is caught. In the eyes of Thai law, you are in effect, cheating the government, and that’s never going to sit well. The lawyer summarized the situation by saying it’s far riskier to work with bogus certificates than it is to work illegally without a work permit.

actually using illegal and faked up documents can be a couple of years in prison, no work permit is a fine and a return ticket to your home country at worst.

Funny that as I know a chap that knocked back by the MoE for having a dodgy degree.....and guess what happened? Nothing.

I know another chap that was reported for having one ot the MoE and 6 months later he was still working at the same school.

    Mental huh???

Also the thing is if you've already put in for your WP and got it your chances of getting caught afterwards are slim....I've actually not heard of anyone getting caught out this way. The only time you generally get caught out is on the application (unless you piss someone off that knows you have a dodgy one) and then as you don't have a WP it's not such a biggie.

Now as schools can get teachers a WP without a degree.....maybe it's about time they started to do so.

I'm tired of people pissing on others when they should be more concerned about themselves

If they're such good teachers and not wannabes....surely they have nothing to worry about from others less qualified than themselves. I mean a degree in crochet has fuck all to do with teaching!!!
