I'd like a new Mazda 2. If I put down the downpayment and make the payments can it be in her name?

Does your wife have a job?
A real job?
If she has what the Thais call a 'slip', then no problem. This is an official wage slip for the last 3 to 6 months from her employer. With this, no problem.
I don't think that but I wondered if it would raise eyebrows if the payments are made by me. Maybe I can give the money to her to pay.
It's common as somtam mate... I mean for a farang to pay Thai bills...Originally Posted by Trumpton
Why Mazda 2? have you looked at other options in that price range?
not saying it's a bad car, but much better alternatives which will hold their re-sell value more than a M2.
I just purchased a Mazda CX3 diesel and am very happy with its design and technology. For those who follow quality cars, this is what helped me make my final decision:

I've got a mini cooper elsewhere and the m2 is the only affordable car I can think of in Thailand that comes close to it. Hondas and Toyotas aren't fun to drive.
What's your budget - around 500k right?Originally Posted by Trumpton
If it must be new, which most people will advise, could you afford a little more to get the City or Altis? both can be had in CNG. Much better than the M2.
how about 'near new' like 1-2 year old car? with service record/low kms...
if the car is for you, why not get a nice 2nd hand CRV or Camry/Accord? circa 2008-2010... much more car for your money IMHO.
this is an example from one2car (buy private should be much cheaper around 500k max)...
???????? Honda CR-V ONE2CAR
Thanks dick but I'm not a toyota or honda fan. They are boring.
All good bro. I have driven the M2, didn't like the interior, but it drives well, excellent brakes and handling.. get white *it's the new black
If you want a driving car, go for the Mazda 2. Enjoy the car and bugger the resale value!
Suzuki Swift ain't bad either.
Mate, have a look through this thread ... https://teakdoor.com/the-teakdoor-lou...march-one.html (Toyota Yaris versus Nissan March - which one?)
It's recent and discusses a few models you mention.
The dark red colour the Mazda 2/3/5 come it is a winner in my eyes.
I got a motorbike and a car on the same day.
My wife had no job, the house was half built, i was working abroad in Mexico at the time.
I could have got what i wanted and it was only 3% interest
I coudnt beleive how easy it was the guy came to the land with the house half built, had a little talk and it was done.
We have paid it off now it was with kathasorn i think, the yellow logo bank.
I gave the guy a couple of quid for his trouble
I think one of the family may have secured the loan i am not sure.
I went to Kawasaki for the bike, she went to Honda for the car
Job done
