    1-Year Visa on Work Permit

Just had a shock from the lady I hired to assist in preparing and submitting our paperwork for the Work Permit.

Does a dependent spouse and one-year old child have to pay the same amount for the one-year visa as the work permit holder?

She wants to charge my wife and one-year-old the same amount as me for the initial work permit, one-year visa and one-year work permit even though they don't need the work permit.

How much should we pay for all of this, in terms of official fees?

    Does my question make sense?

    Cheers

Thank you, I can see why you have 14.000+ and 20.000+ posts . . .

I got the same info of b1900 per person, irrespective of age.

Added to this the info number of 1111 proved to be excellent - I waited for 2 minutes and the lady gave me all the information I needed.

    Excellent government service.

Kids under 14 or so, not sure, migth be 17 need normally a visa...

But if they do not have one it does not matter, somehow... there is half a statement about this confusing half law...

I made visas for the kiddies in the past and now just no more, as they do not bother us each time we leave or reenter, i just find it less of a hassle...

They do not like to advertise this "no need of a visa for kids", i was even once told because it generates money and Thailand needs money, this at the immigration, great people who like to get few hundred baht for their country and force kids make hundreds of Kms trips just for a stamp in the passport...

I wonder how much gazoline is wasted in Thailand for all this visa trip story... would not mind just pay gazoline fee and not travel so much, by the opinion of many...

Children under 7 do not need visas - anywhere. She is ripping you or just plain stupid. A spouse gets a dependency visa and it is extended with your visa when you get your work permit. The costs for the extension for your wife is 1,900 Baht.

If you are self employed you can apply for a 3 year work permit. It negates the need for an annual renewal.

Sadly I already paid 1900 each for my 1-year old and 10-year old, while the apps are stil in the works and I am told it will take 3-4 weeks.

As it stands I was told that we need not do a 90-day run.

I am self-employed and employ about 10 people. I will enquire about the 3-year issue.

    Thanks

It seems that one needs to have resided here for three years before you can apply for a 3-year work permit . . .
