Granite & Marble - Large Slabs in Pattaya

If you are looking for some real large slabs of granite or marble this place down Soi Watboon near Sukhumvit Road has a few, could make some nice tables out of these slabs.

I'm looking for some large planks of teakwood, or possibly another tropical hardwood. Anyone know where I could find some of that?

Ban Chang is where we used to get teak wood from, I never went so not sure where the place is.

I think its one of those that if you have to ask you can't afford it No, I have no idea but they aint going to be cheap.

I assume that the prices as with most things are similar to here in Cambodia. Here the prices range from $30-100m2. I haven't worked out why there are such big differences in prices between different colours/patterns, I'm guessing it must be scarcity or something.

I'm in the process of buying some for our kitchen counters and also the vanity cabinets in the bathrooms. They then charge $5 for cutting sink holes, and $6 per meter to add some style to the edges.

$30 for 100 square meters? Think you have made quite a mistake in your calculations and will get a big suprise.

Both marble and granite are also priced on slab size, ie 10x20cm pieces of cheap grey marble are 100baht per square meter, that same marble in 30x60cm slabs is 450baht per square meter, obviously those giant slabs in the picture are going to be way above that price.

I have a marble table and would advise against having one. It chips to easy when something metallic drops on it. Holes appear, the same as glass, when hit with a metal BB.

^Do you use a plastic cup to drink out of just incase it chips, maybe be a bit more careful how you treat things.

We've got loads but you'll have to smuggle them to wherever you are.

Last time I checked (this would have been a few years ago) granite was running ~800-1200 baht retail (depending on quality) per square meter (very cheap compared to the West)- of course, that was for 2cm thickness, not the 3cm that is US or European standard.

No that's correct but how I wrote it wasn't clear, it meant $30 - $100 per square meter. The slabs here are all the same length as the ones shown above but about half the height.

My personal experience has shown that it is best not to spill blueberry juice on these countertops. They will stain...

Marble stains really easily as it is absorbent, granite is better for bathrooms etc as marble is stained by toothpaste and other stuff used in bathrooms, there are waxes and guards you can use but who needs the hassle.

Yup- marble is porous and you have to be careful where you use it- it looks fantastic, though.

I have kids. By the way, even with the kids I have no problems with staining. May be it's conglomerate ?

Conglomerate marble is still porous, as it is made up of a high concentration of marble (95% typically), however is more stain resistant.
