    hardwood lintels....

I am looking to superblock 4 corners of the ground floor each wall will most likely have a window of some kind, but to be difficult i was wondering about teak wood lintels. i have lots of wood around the house so expense is not the issue, more durability.

The 1st floor will have a perimeter roof as well as the eaves from the main roof to reduce rain fall onto the building and move it away.

I was also wondering about superblock and how i could tie it to a teak wood post? We are going to have the bottoms concreted or brick rendered if that helps at all?

any comments, amusements are most welcome.
im hot its so hot today.......milk was a bad choice!

you can use wood but it is easier just to use made up concrete lintels

if you use wood, give it a good soaking in anti-insect fluid optherwise it will get eaten

as for tying in block to wood, the way they did mine was to put a row of nails in the wood and they get cemented in by the block layer
    I have reported your post

Thanks Dr.A I want to use teak hardwood as i have some spare 6"x6" posts i think this will work nicely and give a different look to the house.
That makes sense about nails i was thinking metal ties that wrap and nail on to both block and post but your idea seems simpler.

Enjoying the flats. have a good new years!
