You are not in Los and faced with torrential downpours, 100% humidity, chickens running riot, bugs the size of rabbits and general complete fuckups and the like.
Knobs, sounds good, wait till the rains ease a little and the river is more reliable to be clear and calm. we went swimming yesterday, the boy got sucked downstream via the new floodgate and i had to go rescue him, then i got washed down.
You're only gettin 2 jars mate. :sorry1:Quote:

Nawty! That place looks great..love the wood, the rocks, the hairy roof. The loft kicks ass too. Excellent place, congrats..:)
Nawty, that place is the mutts nutts. This has been a fantastic thread, just like reading a National Geograpic and DIY magazine at the same time. Thank's.
Quite inspirational DIY, Nawty. Well done!:)
Very interesting and good pics and narrating.
I am not sure you can get 'the wet look' to your stonework.
I guess all kids have picked up a beautifull stone at the beach, and dragged it home to the parents, who immidiatly threw the dried up pearl away.
Varnish wouldn't be worth it, I guess
Nawty, the place looks great, congrats. Will you stick with shaggy or have a trim? Both look good I reckon.
I haven't read the whole thread, but the post above refers to a wet look on stone, this is from Wiki:
"As the penetrating power of tung oil is excellent and it will adhere to porous minerals, it is often the “secret” ingredient that traditional stonemasons apply to granite or marble that is destined to serve duty in kitchens, bathrooms and other staining fluid environments. Applied at a 1:5 ratio (oil to naphtha), it seals the surfaces permanently, while also giving a finish like that of wet stone to the product. Often several thin layers are applied at the high solvent-to-oil ratio, in order to build up the durability and permanence of the coating.
hooray, looking great
Thanks guys.....I like it also, some rough spots, but they can be polished out hopefully.
Smithson.....as for the shaggy or trimmed look, going for inbetween, I like both also, so going to just trim the real daggy bits that are hanging and leave it all still a little shaggy, just neater.
Still got the stone floors to put in.
I trialed 'Topcoate' on the stone and it does give it the wet look and seals it nice, but it is a chemical.
I did try some tung on the slate stone and it did not dry, basically stayed wet and wiped off after a week or so. But I did not try it as a mix while increasing the ratio with each coat, just used the staright oil and I did not try it on the river stone, which is more porous. So might give it a trial in an area and see how it works.
Love it! Outdoor living is great and you seem to have captured a great mix.
Some more piccies....finishing touches going on.....should be done in next week...or 2.
Except my apprentice stonemason ran off yesterday...more later......here is some stone.......love my stone.
Priced this river stone in a stone place on the highway the other day, same stones 35b per kilo. Asked how much for a large crate full, said 2/3 tons and around 100k baht....crikey......saved myself probably 150/200k in stone cost by having me own river to pillage..
this is the wash basin, not cleaned and polished yet..

outside bathroom...shower, wash basin and shower bucket tank...

A close up of the stone work, the shelf in the corner is a pot plant for a hanging plant of sorts....made it on the ground, then secured it with steel into the walls..

The front of the bungalow...the front of the balcony is mosquito wire only....nice view and nice and cool...
https://teakdoor.com/Gallery/albums/u...1/IMG_6786.JPG
the old teak shutters came up a treat....we took the glass out of the top section and put in mossi wire only, so nice cool breeze even with shutters closed..
https://teakdoor.com/Gallery/albums/u...1/IMG_6789.JPG
Me loof and the loft base.....love me loof.....the tung oil brought the colour out and originally thought it might be to dark, but now love the contrast between the thatch and bamboo sheets and the darker richer beams..

Anyway, it was caused by me saying that he did not do a particular wall correct, the way he was told by us at least 10 times and on at least 3 seperate ocassions, the latest the day before he started it.
Each and every time he said he understood...not only did he say it, he used his hands to show where the wall would go and shape etc....so he did understand it exaclty, no problem there. There was even a huge margin for getting it right or near right.
Instead, he did it his way, which was the crap way and it looked crap.
he started to sulk, went off to the hut and sulked some more.
Missus got up him, not me.....i remained very calm and apart from saying it was not as instructed, said nothing else.....did not even drop my usual 'fcuk' and 'idiots'.....which i am sure they now know these words in english.
So, his explanation to missus was that it was 'to difficult to do it how i wanted it'
Missus went in to the bathroom while he was off sulking and did it herself in about 2 hours and looked almost exactly as i wanted....remember the margin...and here is she getting stoned...
https://teakdoor.com/Gallery/albums/u...1/IMG_9243.jpg
So, if she could do it, he could do it.....he came and loooked and then left.
I was very happy i did not say anything and left it to the missus and then she showed him up....looks like i have a new stonemason....but dont want her to get muscles bigger than mine..
Place looks really nice Nawty..love the stone and wood together. The loof is great and the contrast between the beams and the bamboo is spot on. Great stuff!
Very nice! :)
Looking splendido mate..is this on the pc or the nn side?
