You guys are on the right track. No doubt the settling of the house caused the problem. But, what does the pic show? In other words how did we find the leak?

    No more clues!

    Either

    1. The pipe has no end on it

    2. The shovel next to the palm is what has hit the pipe and split it at some stage.

btw, we're in Thailand in 2009 with my free stay still be valid

The roots from the nearby plant cracked the pipe/fitting.

I think it was a problem next to the wall under the floor of the shower.

BTW, I have exactly the same tiles in my shower

house is sinking faster than the ground the pipes rest on. Thus rupturing the pipe line. Suggest relocating pipeline and fixing it to the wall. So pipe and house can journey together into the depths of Thai soil. Or vice versa if your house has been built on proper foundation. if not expect to knock down the whole building in about 5 years time and start all over again.
There is a reason for everything to be fixed outside the strucure of the building. The further south you are in Thailand the faster the land sinks. I know of a property that is 20 years old.The floor and the surrounding land now has a gap of one and a half metres. you can peer under the property and see the columns holding the building up. another 5 years people will think it is built on stilts.
    Whoops gotten carried away here.

There was a cigarette butt in the pipe. Or, what looks like yellow PVC has something to do with the leak?

Because that's where you temporarily put a stop cap on the pipe and then found that your pump didn't start every 3 minutes.
Now invest in a 100 baht valve for that section. Makes it easier to isolate problems..

^A hard hit ball sailing towards center field fence. Look like it's going to be a home run.

Damn, so close, but caught at the wall.

Here is the deal. Water leaks in Thailand are not that uncommon and the Thais have come up with this idea.

You notice the new PVC joint?

There is about a half way point in my plumbing system. The plumber cut the pipe, plugged the pipe and then looked for the leak. The leak had to be on one side or the other. Well, the pump was still running almost constantly. But we found the leak.

Here you can see the water leak in the main shower.

    Now the fun begins.

Never a good sign when one has large power tools in the bathroom.

Starting to locate the exact pipe that is leaking.

Most of you were on the right track on what caused the leak. My house is sinking.

Here you can see the crack in the tiles on the wall in the main bathroom.
