Don't forget to grease the chuck and dont take it above 1000 rpm for the first minute of use.

Put up a shelf in the back wall of the laundry room as a tester.



Not the most beautiful of holes, but the shelf is sturdy.

One or two of the drill bits started to bend and get loose.


The front wall of the laundry room is nicer and was nicely painted with the rest of the villa during renovations, so things need to be done nicely. Putting up a 60cm bar to put hooks on to hang sweeping brushes and the such.

The wall is solid brick and concrete. A hard solid muthafookha.




Starting with the small bit first.

This one became loose a few times, spinning off and chipping me nice paint.



Before bending and snapping in two.



This one became loose no matter how hard or which way I tightened it.

Until it eventually just slipped out and stayed in the wall.




Which is the current state of play.

Bent drill bits.
Snapped drill bits.


I did spray a bit of Sonax into the drill bit housing area while prepping the new drill.


Why do they always get loose, bend, or snap? Because the brick and concrete is hard as a fooker? They're cheap shite?

You put them into the housing, not touching the base, then tighten the fooker up with the chuck until it can't tighten no more, right?

Guess I'll be drill bit shopping for drilling concrete.


What brand is renown for sturdy strength and quality drill bits to drill through bricks and concrete?

Changing to the silver drill bits didn't help.








That mark wouldn't be covered by the metal bar housing. :/


The drill bit didn't get loose this time, which is a bonus.

Those black bits are for wood or maybe metal...test one out on your head.

Concrete bits are silver colour and have a wide, flat end.

It can be an idea to drill a small diameter guiding hole first then change up to the drill bit size you need.

If your drill bits are getting loose, you either didn't fit them in the chuck properly or you didn't tighten the chuck enough.

Also, let the drill do the work. Don't push too hard with your body.

There are these 2 silver ones.

The barbed one looks impressive.





But fully tightened, the drill bit always gets pushed back to the back of the house, causing drill bit wobble.

Dodgy drill maybe... should have got a Bosch.

I don't understand why the chuck doesn't grip the bits better.

Try the stool on top of a crate you are better not drilling at eye level

Maybe squirting Sonax down into the drill bit housing as Malmo Mike told me to wasn't the correct thing to do at all.


Will bugger off to Homepro and get a set of concrete drill bits, cheers.

Gave it one last go. The drill bit seems strong, no bending or snapping, have it tightened with the chuck key tighter than Mendy with his kid's aircon remote in the hot season, but it still gets pushed back to the back of the drill bit housing.


Will buy Bosch drill bits for concrete in Homepro before throwing it into the bin and crying myself to sleep.

Bought some Bosch bits.



They were much better.


But under pressure (the walls are rock solid, I remember the renovator mentioning it while sweating) instead of drilling through, the chuck grip will just open back to full open as if resetting.




They sell Bosch heads.




No idea if they're interchangeable.

But the point is kinda moot anyway as the screw holding in the chuck head on mine is washed out and unable to unscrew.
