Not being a trusting soul we brought up a new television to confirm the television signal was being delivered. It is on both levels, notwithstanding the lack of Gold Channels in bedroom 1.

And these are the last two photos I'm posting today for yesterdays visit. A couple of different views of the house. We are going back onsite today and will be there tomorrow as well...tomorrow is kitchen install day, no doubt an activity more than capable of generating the odd issue or two.
Site Visit 18 January 2019
We got back to Nan and to our leased home earlier today than the last three. It was another good day although we did forget to go to the True agency in Pua to sort out the channels mix up. Will do it tomorrow afternoon.
When we arrived this morning there was an excavator onsite clearing and leveling for the carport and driveway. A look around the back of the house revealed he had already tidied that up after the concrete truck churned it up earlier in the week. The formwork had been taken off both of the fence pillars near the front corners of the house. Inside the house we had the one gent continuing with the baseboard and moldings installations and two gents measuring for the various timber shelves and cutting and planing those to size on the concrete apron outside of the house. The general duties gent was keeping himself busy and the builders supervisor arrived to check that the carport and driveway excavations were okay. When we left early afternoon the carport and driveway formwork was being set out and the largest concrete pour to date at the site will occur mid-morning tomorrow.
The other big event for tomorrow is the kitchen delivery and installation. As I type this blog it is on a truck and heading north from Bangkok. Due onsite around 6:00am tomorrow. The wife and I will have an early start and meet them onsite at that time as well. The salesman based in HomePro Phrae is coming and will bring the exhaust fan/hob and gas cooktop. The oven and refrigerator we purchased from HomePro Phrae will be delivered on the 21st. I'll likely post progressively tomorrow on both the concrete pour and kitchen installation.
Before heading home today I took the wife to the local nursery for a look around. We didn't actually purchase anything but did commit to buy an advanced white flower frangipani.

The excavator guy did a great job clearing up the back yard.
More of the back yard.
The driveway will run from the south boundary to the carport and be 3 meters wide. At 4 meters from the carport it splays out on either side and meets with the edges at the carport being 2 meters from the east and west sides of the carport. The carport itself is 10 x 6.5 meters. After taking into account the 1 meter apron along the front of the house the leading edge of the carport is 7.5 meters from the house front wall. Almost all of the carport will be covered by a roof that is attached to the south wall of the house and supported by two columns at either end. The south end of the carport roof falls a little short of the edge of the carport, rain water run-off will hit the carport concrete, not dirt/grass. I've determined that my Hilux can easily use the drive and carport to do a three point turn so you drive towards the house and towards the road, no long reversing. If a first car is parked appropriately, a second can do the same. If there are three cars then need to park with nose towards the house and reserve out. At a tight squeeze, four medium sized cars can get undercover parking.

This is the pillar that will anchor the short wall running across to the western boundary. A metal gate will be hinged off it and latch to the house. There is a similar but smaller wall with metal gate on the east side of the house as well.
A gent was tiding up external spots requiring additional cement render.
View to the south out of the bathroom 3 window, now with insect screen installed.
We provided a number of wall and floor mounted door stops and said just to install them where it looked appropriate. Saw three done today and all needed it.
It appears we have a small bat that uses this light fitting for some portion of the night. Looking at what is on the floor below it last three nights it would seem that we can tick off eating insects, shitting and urinating as activities it has enjoyed there. From tonight it will encounter all windows and doors closed.
And the last photos for today are some views...taken early afternoon. The distant mountains in the third photo are the main Phi Pan Nam Mountains close to Laos. These mountains divide the Nan River and Yom River watersheds and provide the bulk of the boundary between Nan and Phayao provinces.
Having breakfast at the 7 Eleven in Pua. Been up since 3:00am. Our kitchen is sitting in a truck here in the car park, made it safely from Bangkok.

Kitchen Installation & Carport/Driveway Pour 19 January 2019
We were up at 3:00am and in Pua before 5:00am to have some breakfast at the 7 Eleven. Found the kitchen delivery truck in the car park and once the two gents were awake got them some breakfast before heading out to the home site. Turns out they were only delivering the kitchen from Bangkok and the installers were coming from Phrae. They arrived around 9:00am, two of them.
Meanwhile five gents are onsite preparing for the carport and driveway concrete pour. Another gent is inside continuing the baseboard installation. And the general duties guy is keeping himself busy.
Kitchen components unloaded and moved into the house.
Carport and driveway concrete pour preparation.
The teak shelves have progressed well. Way more solid than I was expecting.
Baseboard installation now literally climbing the stairs.
Blogging from bedroom 1 today.
Kitchen Progress just after 11:00am.
First Concrete arrived at 11:30am
Coming along nicely.
Your True problem re having Gold package in bedroom is easily sorted. Simply a decoder card change.
Looking at the soil and vegetation around your house I think no need for top soil. When you plant trees, buy and use bagged potting soil. All nurseries have it.
Who is supplier of your kitchen cabinets?
"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect,"
Hi Norton, yeah, remain pretty pleased. Starmark is the kitchen supplier. Manufactured in Bangkok, purchased from them via a sales guy working in HomePro at Phrae. May well take the suck and see option for general top soil but want to populate the flower and vegetable gardens with something decent. The general duties guy here told the wife this morning that there is a business in Pua that sells top soil in those large bags. I think he means the one ton capacity bags you see about the place. Going to follow up on that since the wife is keen. Regards, -BiP
The kitchen guys are cracking along quickly.
Wow, those windows are tiny.
