Thread: BLD'S Pool build in Vientiane

About 7 weeks ago i talked myself into building a small pool in the yard, its still about a week away from being done, Apart from the usual shitfight with the mess the workers make it has gone surprisingly well, So far



Ive got a hut and spa that sits in the spot where we wanted to build it, so first thing to do is move the hut and spa out the way

The wife took loads of pictures but im having a bugger of a job remembering how to post them

we also had
quite a lot of palms trees that needed to be relocated



This is the yard before the carnage started



Nothings ever easy is it? when the boys started to dig the holes for the palms they found a shitload of concrete that needed to be jack hammered

The slab that the hut sat on wasnt coming out withough a fight as well, 2 blokes and a jack hammer for 3 days before the gave up, we used the excavator to break the rest



we found some students around the corner to come and move the hut to its temporary location

This pool will be 8m x 4m 0.8 at the shallow end and 1.8 at the deepest, ive ordered th fences already to keep the kids out , will probably remove them when they are older

Hut and spa and trees removed , Time to call in the digger

Righto, holes dug time to formwork the floor and wall beams



These are 40cm x 25cm section (20cm below slab) 3 linear beams 4 lateral beams: concrete reinforced with 6 rods of 12mm steel rod with spacers at 20cm intervals of 6mm steel rod

The yards still covered in debris but it will clean up alright, the boys finished the tiling today and started on the grouting, been really lucky with the weather considering we started the build in mid June, haven't really had a start to the wet season here yet, thank fuk!, next will be to tile the play area around the pool, will post up some more tomorrow if I get the time

That's alot of work, good luck with it all. The spa looks nice, you could get 3 or 4 katoeys in there...

At least 3 or 4 , more in the pool probably, the fences I've ordered aren't just for the kids protection, gotta keep katoeys out to

It looks like it's gonna be a nice sized pool... But gonna take a while to finish it.

Not really Betty, tiling on the walls was completed today, they started on the grouting today as well, I reckon they can finish the grouting by Wednesday avo, Thursday's another Buddha day so they won't work, Friday, Saturday and Sunday should get the play area tiled, after that we can fill it up and use it according to the farang, I want to raise the height of the walls surrounding us so will wait to get that done with some different contractors, after that I need a small truck of soil and need to buy some new lawn , I want to do all that before filling it up otherwise the fuckers will just get more shit everywhere,
