Christchurch, city of my misspent youth, took my daughters back 10 yrs ago, prequake bit cold for them. but in my mind I could, relive my times driving around in my 39 ford coupe, ahh those were the days. any way good luck with the build.

Seems as though the results are pretty much the same, other than not looking as good when in place can you really tell the difference when the finish work is done?

With in reason the completed work looked very good, it's more if they used better form work, they would have finnshed the job much much quicker and then moved onto something eles JMO

A 2 bedroom townhouse here would sell for around $350-450,000 so x 8 your looking at around $3million + retail . build cost would be under 2 million most likely.
but these are going to be rental units and may rent for 450-600 per week.

Insurance rules say you have to rebuild like for like, so if your house was demolished , you got it rebuilt exactly as it was before the quakes, but with modern materials.

so if you had a drafty 1970's disaster , you get a brand new fully insulted 1970's face lift.
My sister has huge 5 bedroom 1930's villa , that she paid @ 150,000 for 10 years ago, cost to repair based on the sq meterage is over 1 million.

    Special construction this, interesting...

may be the flippos are building this, NZ is calling 3000 more Philippinos to help rebuild CC, salary of around 150k Php, a bit better conditions then UAE...
