Yes it can take time before google update the pictures. Last week the pictures on my spot was several years old, and had a big cloud over my place.

FIL/BIL have now started the drawing process with the land office to get the house approved....
They estimated it would take 3 weeks to get it registered and get water and electricity.

Some people just draw and draw and might never get a house out of it but others like me just build and might get a drawing....(and hopefully a house)

BIL working hard to get the house ready for us. Next week my niece will visit the place and take some new pictures for us. And that will be the last pictures before we'll be there,

Less than 30 days till I'll visit the place, so the timeline for BIL is tight

We'll have to buy something to sleep on. I think its hard to find good beds in Thailand. Most of them is like sleeping on rocks And the few comfortable ones cost almost the same as a house
I might buy some cheap foam rubber mattress and bring them to Thailand to put on top of the bed. I think they can be compacted enough to carry on the plane.
Curtain rods and curtains are also sth I think we'll bring with us, as nice curtains are expensive in Thailand.

A descent quality bed will run you about a grand. I bought one while I was living in a Condo in BKK. The ones in the condo's were OK but definitely quite stiff.

^This is one of the reasons I opted for a cargo container. Building a house is one thing, furnishing it can become an expensive proposition.

JPPR2: I think you have had a great progress on your house....and I have not moved into the house yet so you can still beat me I cross my fingers that the house is ready for use when we get there.

As I'm not moving there for many years, I'll not have so much to fill a container with, and most things are much cheaper to buy in Thailand than in my country that is on top of the big mac index.

Thanks, in the end I just hope we both end up with houses we like and can relax in with few worries. I doubt mine will be done before March of 2015. Missus is there right now inspecting the progress with the General Contractor for the half way point.

Understood on the container. Clearly they are all about timing and what one wants and desires.

    Cheers

Wife talked with BIL, and he told they where going to finish the house this week. I' not sure how finished it will be though
But the the walls, roof, windows, light and doors should be finished.

I hope to get some pictures of the "finished" house next week.

    6kon,
Looks very relaxing. I really like sitting areas on the front porch. The wood detail looks very nice. You ready to move in?

JPPR2: Yes as MIL and FIL did the magic and slept there last night its ok for us to sleep there now Its not much to sleep on there for us, so we'll have to but some beds when we arrive.
There is no water heater in the bathroom. I thought it was installed, but wife didn't think we needed that, but I told her I need it So BIL will install that on the private bathroom. The kitchen isn't installed. That will wait for us to finish.

All sounds good. I am envious. I am still stuck here in the states.

A few beds and you can enjoy it with not many worries. Funny how the wives always say "We do not need a hot water heater". I have showered in many places without them and depending on what time of year I tend to agree with them but I want it there when it is not so "Refreshing"

No worries on Kitchen, food is everywhere and cheap and easy to buy.

FO: thanks. Yes I really like wooden houses too. Its a living material To bad its so expensive material in Thailand if you want wood that can last. It needs of course more attention to keep it intact, and you can't do it the thai way that paint the concrete house when it's new and then never again

    Rural - retreat style.
We have no kids - none to come either.
    FIL/MIL - priority.
I am in there - somewhere?

You have a lotta land - unlike us.
As I age - now 66, I will have more indoor time.

    GOOD LUCK!
