    Skype problems.....

    I've used skype for ages.

    Always been pretty bloody good.

Over the last week I've needed it on a daily basis to connect with the UK.

    Shocking.

Video is OK but audio drops out continuously.

I've done the test calls and they seem fine. I've tried different mikes and cameras on test. All good.

Just that when we try to link with the UK, be it 06.00 in the morning or 18.00 at night the audio just keeps dying both ways.

It's frustrating the buggery out of a little lad that needs to talk to the UK.

Any suggestions, alternatives, help or constructive comments.

    Cheers folks.

We use Skype to communicate at work everyday. I mainly use the instant messaging service, but this also often gets "sticky", and wont send messages.

I emailed Skype about this and their solution was to download the latest version. To be honest it seemed like a pretty generic response, but it did work, for a while at least.

Close your browser and other internet related programs like download trackers, and try again to use Skype. See if that makes any difference.
Maybe you just have a very unstable and/or poor quality internet connection.

I never have a problem with Skype, except for the occasional frozen screen, or an echo while talking but most of the time it disappears after a few seconds. If not, I'll call again.

Tried that. Seemed to make no difference other than the fact that they couldn't see the boys hand signals.

The audio fades in and out at both ends. UK + LOS.

Video does the same but far less so. Just hangs every now and then.

It's odd, cos it's been perfect up until a couple of weeks ago.

Nothing to spill they changed my ip address to one that works better with international websites. The cost is the same - 1100 baht a month 8mb.

My ip address has changed and they went in and gave me a new password for True. With the Thainglish and translations the best i can tell I am routed differently than most True customers.

I'm in Australia with a fast connection. My fiancee is in Thailand with a slow connection. I call her on Skype and she answers on her mobile phone, which of course casts money.....but not much. Then we see each other for free on Yahoo Messenger. It's the only way we can do it with her having a slow connection.
Try downloading YM and see what happens when you do video and voice together, or separately. It's free to use, and quite straightfoward.
To see the other person's web camera, click on the "actions" tab at top of page.

No Skype issues here with me in Ban Chang when communicating domestically or internationally. Fingers crossed, Knocking on wood, and all that stuff.

What's happening is that your bandwidth has recently been sucked up by some other people using the same ISP. Bandwidth in Thailand is at a premium. Just because you could once get voice and audio doesn't mean you always will.

You hit it in one, tappie feet! And it's going to get worse before it gets better, regretfully. Unless someone does something about internet facilities in Thailand. Pigs can fly?

    Cheers for that.

What I don't understand is that I do a free test call and it's perfect.

I talk to UK and video is great, I hear them well but they can't hear me.

(Am I repeating myself - sorry)

We've tried at all different times of day and night, but nothing seems to fix the problem.

    Yours sincerely

    Frustrated.

My recent problems with internet were fixed when my wife dragged an official TTT telephone guy to our house and he eventually discovered our wire near the exchange box had been messed up by the electricians.

Unofficial cost 600 Bt, but I wuz happy.

Useless 3BB just changed the router, and now I cant access it to check the status.

What sort of package you on - ADSL with True ? What upload/download speed are you paying for?

Try using Speedtest.net to test the speed of your Internet connection. See if you are getting what you pay for I get far less than I pay for, and TOT couldn't give a shit
