    120gb HDD only 32gb showing

I have been sorting out my hard drives, so now I'm going thru a 120gb sata drive, connect it up and its showing it as a 32gb hard drive, look in properties and 80 odd gb isn't allocated, cleaned it all out, reformated and it's still only 32gb, how do I reallocate the 80 odd gb, my mind has gone blank, I know its really simple and starts from the start button but damn sure I can't remember.

Go to disk management and select the 80gb that's not partitioned. Right click and make an active partition. (assign a drive letter)

Start, control panel, administrative tools, computer management, active partition and assign letter, that sorted it out, its just formatting now I couldn't for the life of me remember how to do it.

Ok 4 more hard drives left to sort out, bit of a suprise seeing that that hard drive is 5 years old, just noticed the sticky garauntee says 2010, looked closer and its a 5 year warranty, anyway tomorrow I might try sticking an older drive in the freezer if I can't get it to work tonight, see whether the freezer trick is myth or not

You can also right click on 'My Computer' either on the desktop or the start menu and choose 'Manage' then 'Disk Management'

    start -> run -> diskmgmt.msc

but if you really want to check a drive

download ubcd , burn it to disc , and boot from the cd

disc tool , diagnostics , and choose your manuf tool

^^Well 27 seconds of it anyway
Right first 40gb ide drive is in the freezer, think it's 40gb anyway, this one stopped working and then took a bit of a fall, tried it on 2 pcs and it whines and screams but wont show or work, been sitting on the desk for a year or 2 and is now chilling out in minus 18 degrees in a 7/11 plastic bag, lets see how it likes that, do or die time.

It doies - place the HD into a freezer bag, along with a dessicating bag, before you do.

After you remove it, you have an effective 5-10 minutes of effective operating time.

    Why? It seems terribly intuitive.

    You got it?

There is a good, I think free, utility called, Partition Magic. I works really well. Maybe I got it from here: MajorGeeks.com - Download Freeware and Shareware Computer Utilities. (for next time).

So I've now got 3 sata drives all up and working in this pc, the frozen ide drive is dead, made a tiny sound when I first turned the pc on, wouldn't show and after 5 minutes was covered in moisture, now I'm left with 2 ide drives to experiment with, one is quite new but comes up with bad sectors, think that was a bad os installation, the other doesn't show on bios or anything

Create a bootable Cd from one of these two .iso files (using IMGBurn).

Boot it with the drives plugged in and see what you get.

    DistroWatch.com: Parted Magic

    Or maybe even this:

    DistroWatch.com: SystemRescueCd
