you claimed that the mac was not overpriced for those specs and asked me to prove my case. I dragged my feet because anyone with a brain cell knows that the macs are overpriced per specs. Only a religious follower would deny such reality, and you and Quack Quack fit the perfect profile of gullible religious followers, so it is a bit pointless to prove it as you two will deny it no matter what

In the broader context of Butterfly baiting, every night is Friday night!!! Never been to Nana (is that a fruit???), but if it would bring the same smile to my face as reading your posts, maybe I should!

Actually, to be fair - all of my servers are DELL made, and I have had zero problems with them -- they run just fine in that freezing cold server that Butterfly continues to imagine I must be living in, and have been working fine for years.

On the other hand, I know friends that when it comes to customer service (ie IF something breaks) DELL ends up being DAH HELL.

I didn't even bother verifying Butterfly's claims, because he's shown being unable to provide proper links, and tends to make up things up (and then not provide links to prove his statements), so why bother?

he did say he will take the plunge, so I can see a few upcoming threads expressing regrets

at the end of the day his decision was based on gayness style, not the specs per se, since he probably has no clue what they mean in the first place
I have had my own home computers since 1985, now how old is it you are Butterfly? and have worked with computers for a number of years, been a super admin. at work ect. so without claiming to be an expert of any sort, I do know just a little bit about computers, enough to know that every-time I invest in a new one I always buy top spec, so as to ensure that the machine will also be reasonable up to date two- three years after purchase.
Present days development within hardware and software almost makes new "Toys" outdated the day you take it out of the shop.

So the specs was the most important part in deciding, and the design an important plus in choosing brand name, I would never have chosen an inferior machine just for design alone, but the Apple is a bit like the computerworlds B&O system, or lets say the Audis of the car world, you just know when someone have put so much care into choosing the best materials and design for the outside that it most likely will follow through on the inside.

And even people who buy an Audi S8 and know it will do well over 250 kmph, they do not drive that fast everyday, it's just the satisfaction of owning something of the most superior quality, and knowing the performance is there when you need it.

If you look at the innards of a Mac Pro or an iMac and then compare to your regular bamboo PC's the difference is enormous, in the Mac's order and careful engineering is at a whole different level, in the Bamboo's things look like they have been thrown in before the "plastic" cabinet was closed.

There are many reasons why I never choose a Mac before, one was I tended to choose what I worked with, the familiarity made it the easier choice, but also before I thought that Mac's always was in front on design but where lacking in power, now that is different, the power is equal or higher and the design even better in my budget range, and the OS seems to have developed into a real good system if all you read (exept from you ) is remotely true.

So I have all the confidence in the world that I will get a good system that will take me through the next 4 years or so before it gets time to look again.

Tried to do a search of the quote above attributed to me, but think it must have been from a post I was replying to. No matter, agree with Snow Leopard, excellent, reasonably priced, and what I like Apple upgrades, they're always evolutionary, nor revolutionary.

that's exactly what I am saying, you didn't buy it for the specs. If it was for specs, you could gave gotten a far superior machine for that budget, but you didn't, instead you chose the "craftsmanship" of Apple which has nothing to do with how powerful the Mac is.

Your Audi S8 was a good example, Audi have always been overpriced pretentious cars, like the macs, trying to claim something that it is not, like the macs. In summary, macs are for poseurs, users who like to claim something they are not (see Scampy and Quack Quack)

it's a shame there is no option to remove Win7 from the configuration, it could take off another 200 USD from that price, making it below 40,000 THB for the whole deal.

Like the analogy between Apple and Audi. Design and quality figure highly in both companies philosophy, tactile appeal, and long term pleasure of ownership.

Sorry, I've misquoted. It's a quote from a BF post in one of your post. I'm confused.

If i had to chose between the: Sony VAIO LV Series All-In-One PC VGC-LV1S, dell XPS One 24 all-in-one or the new I-Mac. I would go for the i-mac all the time. Aestheticly pleasing.......gayness?.

Can we have a pic of the magic mouse please, what are your impressions of it?

Why is it that all these have no hdmi port?

Larv, be careful to check your Mac on arrival. Some delays in shipping are reported. Apparently the graphics cards as supplied by AMD ATI are not working too well...

Screen flickering is reported by some.

Apple has delayed shipments while the cards are replaced...not Apple's fault, yet again dodgy graphics cards causing problems...

Because they all have the new mini DisplayPort. Same thing, but better. Read up on it.

I just installed a couple of those for one of my clients, and they are gorgeous (and not affected, apparently, by these graphics issues). This isn't the first time ATI video causes problems, and it appears that the acquisition by AMD didn't improve them. I prefer nVidia, in general.)

^ ^^ ^^^ That sound you all just heard was BF's head exploding. Sadly because he hasn't yet realised that a mouse is a handy addition to his shiny new keyboard in this modern day and age it will take a while for him to arrive.

In the meantime please consider yourselves all retarded (and/or gay) because there seems to be a minor manufacturing issue at one of Apple's component suppliers and it is being fixed. By Apple. For free.
