you can use thunderbird for mail.
As all e-mail is sever dependent , once you configure your server (pop, smtp)info all your files/mail will be saveable on your system

hi Phunphin, thanks but is that for the new incoming mails ?

I was wondering about my old mails, those ar no mor on a server, they are stored in my hard drive on the PC !

Once i have thinderbird installed, i should then copy all my old mails from Outlook to Thunderbird, this by using a USD cable old PC to new PC ?

Plus, you can't send e-mails if you use hotmail accounts with Thinderbird, I believe

Hotmail can be used with servers for 10 Us a year or so i once heard...

I think gmail stores lots of mail with illimited size, so it can be a good backup place for emails ?

I do not really care about hotmail or yahoo stuff, but the old mails in my old pc on the old outlook, to have it available with the new stuff coming into Thunderbird and Linux OS, without carrying 2 laptop around...

^^ i do not use hotmail, or gmail with outlook.

Only email provided by company website ! There is no storage on any server, after opening mails, only stored in hard disk of pc...

We hire a company now to solution all of our data moving and backing up, hopefully they will provide a solution for backing up the emails as well...
