Opera Web Browser | Faster & safer | Download the new Internet browsers free

thanks to jonny danger for this recomendation.

it's so fast, it's as if i've just been given an extra couple of megs internet speed.

    brilliant.

Operas always been sort of OK but it doesnt have much that sets it apart. I think they tried to charge for it at one point, might be wrong. Its got a lot of work to do with Google Chrome being released and Operas been around for a while, they dont know how to get it out to more people.

When I used opera before it was probably the best browser out of the box, but I need Firefox's addons to browse comfortably

The trouble with opera is that it caches a lot of stuff and then draws it from the cache when the page loads, ie you may see a new post, click on it and its not there.

I'm bored, I just downloaded it and took it for a spin.
    It's really, really slow.

Maybe it works better with Linux that XP, I dunno, but I think it's crap

I tried it on one normally slow loading online newspaper that I go to everyday and it was a whole lot quicker. Teakdoor is faster as well.

I am holding on to Firefox for now as I am used to it already.

    If your'e not fainthearted

    Smaller memory footprint than 3.05
Not compatible with all old add-ons but you can get them working by adding a config line to FireFox.
It installs in a separate folder from 3.05 so you can go back to the old one
    if you need.

No. It's Caching. I like Opera as it is probably the most robust specifications friendly browser out there and you can defeat the cache if you really want to. Opera's dev addin has to be loaded from the net each time and sucks though.
The interface is not to my liking I'll stick with FireFox.

I've got to get shit to work in IE anyway so having the most spec compliant browser doesn't reduce my work load a helluva lot.
