and .net?
and .net?
I personally wouldn't buy or recommend anybody to buy a .net. I only buy .com's, I think they can be as strong in there url as a com but its just something I personally wouldn't buy.
Lets see how this one goes, its jomtienrestaurant.com or something like that, lets see how quick it can get into google, how quick it can get in the top 10 for certain searches and how well it does for a real basic web site.
Jomtien Restaurant
you're a funny guy DD...what an absolute waste of bandwidth..."Hello Peter"
Ahhh, I missed your post klongy, I intentionally didn't do the url as I didn't want any links to influence it, on google.co.th this search "jomtien restaurant" brings it on number 3 with 2kb of content, ie hello peter, on google.com.hk it's number 2, no content apart from the hello thing and 1 inbound link, shows how strong urls are though and how important they are in relevence to the traffic you want.
He might have finished the content to go in it in a week or 2
Try google for "jomtien restaurant hello peter" hehehehe, it's number 1.

Admittedly, I'm part of the sales team & know fuck-all about seo, but the guys here do.
Type in 'search engine consultants' & we're at the top.
We'd do anything to be listed under 'seo' though.
What about ".co.uk" or ".co.th" - I think some places have ".com.au"?Originally Posted by dirtydog
To get a 'co.'th' I think you have to be a registered Thai company, perhaps the same with '.com.au'?
Yes, that's correct.Originally Posted by bkkmadness

Well its up and online, only took a few months, its stayed at number 2 or 3 on google all the time for the search term "Jomtien restaurant" which is pretty foking suprising as there was no content, still hasn't been indexed by google yet, although it has been submitted and there are a few links out for it, anyway feel free to make suggestions on it on what you feel should be changed.
Umbrella Cafe - Jomtien Restaurant
Site looks alright dawg, although the front page is a bit wordy, I mean ya want a feed so why would you wade thru all the crap about where it is and what delights Jomtium offers, what about its biggest attraction ? "Queer capital of Thailand" not a word about that.
Get some TEfler into get the punctuation right, you know, capitals, paragraph breaks etc.
If I saw a restaurant that served Matues rose I would run, only fvcking winos drink that shite. Our wine list has over 30 different kinds of wine from countries such as France, Italy, Germany, Chile and Australia, including matues rose, riesling and jacobs creek, if your favourite wine is
If the words aint in there then it don't get into the searches anyway, people only look at the pictures and then go straight to the menu probably
Yea, I understand that bit, but at least he could break it up a bit so there is some chance people might read it.
If I was him I would try and make the menu a bit more attractive and include some photos, I mean people are dumb cvnts and with out photos they cannot imagine what they are getting.
I gotta say the three photos he has on the menu page look particularly unappetizing, its pretty obvious that the person who cooked and plated this lot has only worked at Little chef or Australia, no presentation skills whatsoever.
Well it's one of the best coded sites I've seen, well optimized, clean. tobe hoenst I didn;t look at the pictures
teh words will get them in.
"Jomtien Restaurant" people search for that they're looking for a place or paces to eat, on vacation, or maybe they live in town and just want to try something new. A well targeted campaign. This is what a website si supposed to do bring in customers. I think it might work at that job pretty damned well.
Hafta look at teh pictures again, but the menu is well laid out and there's a map. Dude might think about using that light boxx effect on teh menu. Good appetizing shots of each menu item might intice more people to try it once they've seen the site. But it will reach it's target market.

Anyway, the proof is in the pudding so to speak, only went up yesterday so hasn't even been indexed yet, be interesting to see what combinations of words gets it into first page on google and how many combinations.
You can have the nicest looking site in the world, but if the words aint there it aint gonna be found.
The only thing that will get them in is an appealing (attractive) menu and good value.
I'm not saying he hasn't got that already, its just from where I'm looking the pictures of the food don't look all that brilliant.
The food descriptions sound alright but why would you put up a photo of food featuring crinkle cut chips that you brought from Makro? FFS
Now compare when Timba was posting photos of his food, that presentation really enticed one to get down there to give it a try.
Ok I must admit the lamb chops with chips the chips aint laid out very good and they do look like the frozen ones, the steak picture could have done with a few mushroom slices on the steak itself, BUT, if the words aint there then people wont find it to even be able to complain about a crinkle chip hanging off near the edge of the plate or how the steak would look better with a few mushroom slices on it, we shall rethink the pictures for the menu
Naaa, the Aussies can't see this thread, we try to block them from the more intellectual threads, at the moment they are all stuck in the Tasmania weather thread
I shall see what other pics there are that maybe better although they aint worth changing for a few months as it doesn't have any traffic yet anyway, google etc like to see regulary updated web sites so give it a few months and then he can change the pics and maybe add or change some of the content.
The main thing he has to work on now is getting links, ie doing link exchanges which is pretty crap really as it aint considered that important by the search engines if its reciprocal links but does help a bit, maybe some paid advertising or links back without <nofollow> on it for the search engines, or if with the nofollow for the humans and hope for organic links, see how much time he is willing to spend on it and how far it goes
The main sites for restaurants in jomtien that do good are the boathouse, lindas restaurant, ace cafe, dicks cafe, brunos, ie they turn up a lot in searches for jomtien stuff.

Actually thats something I have given quite a bit of thought to, should it have something on there about gays? I don't think so, its a bloody restaurant for gods sake not a sex palace, but it still does need a gay angle as Jomtien does have the odd gay person or 2 and they have money the same as everybody else and they also eat several times a day the same as everyone else, so how to do that?Originally Posted by peterpan
The best way from a peoples point of view is if he does link exchanges with Jomtien and Pattaya gay sites, how much of the attributes of their sites rub off onto his site for the search engines I'm not to sure, if the link is on a page that says, "Gay friendly restaurants" then some would rub off onto the link and the site, but most would depend on the strength of the linking page and the content in it.
