I'll probably let it go past the 128Gb "barrier" then see if the stuff on it plays.

If it does, I'll copy my music library to it and use it on the plane in a few weeks.

So got past 128Gb so I stopped it, played a file off it without problem, reformatted it to exFAT and started copying 170Gb of music.

It's twice as fast on exFAT and think the small file sizes help too.

14% done already.

Looking good!

Nice to see an improvement. Hopefully it'll keep working... For 96 baht, you can't complain too much.

(It's really quite slow; not a complaint or criticism, just an observation.)

So the first one finally crapped out after three or four formats and several large copies. It now sees the drive but there's no partition.
Obviously made with the cheapest of cheap shit that only takes a few cycles to fail.
I doubt it's any use but I'll try and find some tools to take a closer look.

Meanwhile, because they were so cheap, I bought another one.

I didn't format it and started a straight copy.

Let's see if it can take one write and then see how long it will work just for reading.

On the bright side, now I have four adapters.

Got something called AOMEI Partition Assistant. Doesn't tell me much about the hardware, but I deleted the partition thinking that would finish the thing forever, but it allowed me to create and format a new one, this time FAT32.
