I’m looking to buy a smartwatch – Looking for advice

I’m not sure if this is the correct place to ask this , I’m looking to buy a smart watch . I’m having a problem sleeping and want to buy a smartwatch that has the ability to track and record my sleep pattern . Any one here have a smartwatch that tracks sleep .

I suggest a Fitbit. They are not expensive and do a better job of tracking sleep than an Apple Watch does. I was disappointed in my Apple Watch after using Fitbit for this purpose.

Just a suggestion for you. Girlfriend wears a Garmin Fenix because at the time it was the smallest smartwatch available. Tracks her sleeping well also.

Thanks for that , with your Fitbit do you have to pay a subscription to access some of the information ?

I'm just curious... I have terrible trouble sleeping and am usually awake by 2am and rarely get back to any proper sleep.

I already know that my sleep is awful and that I am constantly knackered... how does tracking your sleep help? Can this give any solutions?

^ Probably not. Reduce stress and reduce stimulants should be a start, then visit a doc after that. It could be something medical like sleep apnea.

"Regular drinking can affect the quality of your sleep making you feel tired and sluggish. This is because drinking disrupts your sleep cycle.

The alcohol in your system will mean you spend less time in the important Rapid Eye Movement (REM) stage of sleep, with the end result that you wake up feeling less refreshed. Even just a couple of drinks will have an effect."

^ Yeah, I figured that could be a factor. I sleep well when I'm working offshore which is dry, so that fits.

I also have a lot less stress when away at work, but I don't want to derail this thread. That belongs in the 'Mental stress of being married in Isaan' thread.

The watch can tell you how much sleep you are short is about it.

I found I was waking many times during the night and didn’t realize. Turns out I was waking myself up snoring.

Sorry I should have been more specific. I suffer from Sleep Apnea and use a machine called a CPAP machine along with having to wear a face mask when I go to sleep at night time . The software that I use to track my sleeping information is called Oscar. The Oscar app can show a variety of information relating to the time I was wearing a face mask and connected to the CPAP machine , but not the actual time I fell asleep or for how long. Hence looking for a smart watch that can show me the time I went to sleep and for how long Etc.

When I had stress/ issues, I had disturbed sleep. Once the issue was resolved, my sleep became better.

Re: stress of living in Isaan, maybe you need another Bangkok trip? Or visit Harry in Chiang Mai/ Stumpy in the north.

For me, I sometimes need my shopping trips to Manila. Not really buying anything, more of window shopping & change of atmosphere. Either tnat or hike some mountains and get knackered doing so. I've had an ankle injury the past hike, so I've stopped for a bit.

I don't have a smartwatch (don't want to be dependent on it) but my phone can track my steps. I don't always bring my phone so the actual numbers are higher since some steps aren't counted. That's fine with me.

Yeah, well, no offense to anyone but I think a trip to Bangkok may be the best answer.

But I just can't fit it in at the moment.

You seem to be concerned and for good reason.

Friend of mine passed away about two years ago from sleep apnea. He was about 65 years old.

    I bought one of these recently.HUAWEI

600 B including shipping. Last night I had 2h24m of deep sleep, 5h17m of light sleep and 1h26m of Rapid Eye Movement. My heart rate is 72 and my oxygen saturation level is 98%.

For me the blood pressure reading is useless as it is a fitness watch and obviously fit people don't have blood pressure above 140.

It is a LIGE ZL02 so look for the Da Fit App. So far so good,

App on phone will track walking/running route but will not save it. I use Yamaha MyRide app for that if I need to.

Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?

When I was first diagnosed as having sleep apnea I thought to my self, give it a few months and I will be back to my happy jolly self . How wrong I was ..

Obstructive sleep apnea happens when your upper airway becomes blocked many times while you sleep, reducing or completely stopping airflow. This is the most common type of sleep apnea

Sleep apnea is a curse I would not wish on any one ✟ .

Lots of variables can cause poor sleep. Age, stress (from a long list of reasons), poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, alcohol.

I have a beer or 2 or a few cocktails pretty much every day and sleep like a baby ( 7 to 8hrs every day). Now I do not and will not sleep with my smart watch on because I don't feel it important to track all that sleep info and I dont like a watch on my wrist at night. In your case Mendy it might help so you can see a pattern of your heart rate, REM state, etc.

As to the OP I wear the Samsung Galaxy watch 5. I love all the features and being I have a Samsung phone it links up and tracks all the info for me. I get a weekly update on my activity level, heart rate through out the day, calories burned etc. Plus I can see all my messages and emails in my watch at a quick glance. I can play music on it to my BT ear buds.

I enjoy the technology. It's very convenient and oh yeah. I can also see what time it is.

The Samsung Galaxy 5 looks really good, but sadly I only have a cheap Android mobile phone . Same with the recommended Apple smartwatches , you need to have an Apple mobile phone. One other downside with some other smartwatches is that some of the available information is behind a paywall ( subscription ) .
