For all of you who have to buy the newest junk ... what do you do with your old ipods? Ebay em?

I still have my original 5GB iPod. Replaced the battery once. It holds all the music I'm interested in listening to, and more and plays for 11 hours. No videos, though. But, do I really want to put on some high powered reading glasses so I can watch a tiny little video?

So far so good. There are some Apple type things that bother me, but was aware of these going in.

I'm waiting on pins & needles for the program to come out to crack it (in order to install non-Apple apps & other fun things), but in the mean time it's a little bundle of fun.

What the difference between the 1st gen and 2nd gen?

^ I didn't have to dl anything, I just plugged it into my WinXP machine & iTunes recognized it instantly. Just get iTunes & be done w/ it, that's usually a quick grab.

^ Well I downloaded the latest version of ITunes ver.8.
Plugged in the iTouch. Then it said there are updates available. So I clicked yes. And then got stuck for a coupla hours. It still downloading updates right this minute.

I'm waiting on pins & needles for the release of the jailbreak* software for the iTouch gen2.

* jailbreak'n an iPod Touch means yo can install 3rd party software on your Touch, such as games, eBook readers, SkyPe, etc.

Part of me wishes I bought a 32gb Touch (1st gen) for the same price as a 16gb Touch (2nd gen), because of the capacity & the fact they already found a way to jailbreak it. But the battery is suppose to be better on the 2nd gen, which is a biggy for me.

I bought the 32g version since I have over 3,500 songs.
You will also find that alot of the games and other software are free on the iTunes website.
