Not the printing! Anything but the printing!
Talking of scanning. I've only just noticed this and I do not know what it is. When I right click on something I get a drop down box which starts off with 'Open Link in New Tab'. At the bottom I get a 'Blue Tick' on a black background with 'Scan file for viruses next to it. Is that supposed to be there or have I downloaded something inadvertently?
I don't have a blue tick. I haven't rebooted since I tried the Rkill and scans. I did notice that in addition to AVG I appear to have acquired AVG ZEN which is what is causing the problem.
Most likely a browser extension you have installed.Originally Posted by Pragmatic
Did Malwarebytes find any nasties? If so you need to reboot.Originally Posted by VocalNeal

I am no expert but I do like Bitdefender. I find it runs in the background and doesn't use too much resource. Also I have found Malwarebites good for removing some nasties. It has helped me a few times to clean out malware.
Never had an issue with AVG.
Last month I had my hard drive reset from scratch and the guy said he would put a really good AV on it for me. I assumed that as he's an expert he'd install something really decent and have it run the best it can, to my convenience. ie.run quietly in the background
Oh no.
He installs a trial version of Avast and it came with all the added 'extras'...pop ups, offers, reminders to upgrade, try to close a pop up and it opens a web page the scond you click 'close'.... and I mean every 3-4 minutes or so.
Took me three tries to get rid of it and I put in AVG. Fine.
I've used Avast as my antivirus for about three years, has worked well for me.
It finds malware now and then, informs me about it, and then just takes care of it.
