    TOT free fiber optic upgrade.

I don't know if this info will help many but ............... Popped into TOT yesterday to pay der bill and was told they're doing a promotion to upgrade all customers, on application, to fiber optics free of charge. Normal upgrade price is/was 1,600 Baht.
Don't know how long promotion is on for.

    Sorry, yea,

    Fiber To The Home

    Fiber To The X

One is to the house, and the other is fiber to wherever the fuck they want it to be, then copper to the house. Typically.

X is usually the nearest "Exchange" then transitions to copper.

Fiber to the house typically gets a fiber modem and different setup.

Fiber to the X is usually copper to the home and a standard copper modem/router.

Just an overview of course. This is Thai-lan

TOT was more or less forced into doing it for free. 3BB, True and AIS all have already offered the same deal.

Now you've fcuked me. I'll have to wait til they do my upgrade to say which one it is.
I only live in a village and I suppose there is only one set up. From a farang who lives nearby he says his is fast as fook. If he recommends it then............

Ask him what the router he has it. Model number off of it is enough to look up.

Go for it. Not a bad thing

There are a some other posters here that are way more switched on than me on this subject. Hopefully they will chime in as well.

I to can use the interweb.

    here is your answer

Although I suspect the lower case x in this case is like the ones used to denote any numbers like the car is 890,xxx Baht. So it means it is either FTTC or FTTN or whatever they want it to mean.

In Oz the fibre carrier NBN are estimating $600 JUST FOR A QUOTE to get fibre to the home. (FTTP). Currently most houses are connected FTTN (fibre to the node) which is a junction somewhere in or near your street. It is then connected through the existing copper telephone wires or in my case my existing optus cable.

Fiber to the x (FTTX) is a generic term for any broadband network architecture using optical fiber to provide all or part of the local loop used for last mile telecommunications.

They did ours for free a tear ago. Monthly increased however, but only by 100baht.

I was skeptical about it coming all the way to the house but it did and it's very good.

Was it a little, super small black cable that went to the house? Kinda rigid, but still bendy & really small?

    Edit:

Sounds like a riddle or some shit

    Being serious.

So basically by replacing large swathes of worn out copper with fibre, they're squeezing the max out of DSL then?

yellow cable goes into a white box named a ZTE and then some Chinese figures and then there's a white lead going into another white box with 2 antenna on it.

I'm not very technically adept but I do know it works and a 1.5 gb movie takes under 8 minutes to download.

Yep I had True FiberTTH with a Fiber Modem in the house. Ditched it for 3BB FTTX.

Yeah the fiber one is yellow, or green. There are different wires I've seen them use to get it all to the 'house' though.

The black (with steel messenger) small cable with twisted pair copper:

I have this one going straight to a VDSL router ^

The black (with steel messenger) small fiber line:

Both strung up all over the place like this:

Both were sold as 'fiber'. The True one was setup like crackerjack says for me.

My 3BB FTTX Copper line was WAY faster than the True FTTH I had. No idea why.

The pics shown are just vague likenesses - and I'm not an expert

Well yeah, I thought that was clear enough considering it said "slick" up there within the post.

And why are the the same price with 3BB?
    Fiber 50/10 - 590 baht
    VDSL 30/10 - 590 baht.

We got it months ago in Cha-Am. Fiber all the way to the PCP.
The PCP is also fed by a fiber link so, all the way to the exchange.

    20/10 Mbps 500 Baht
    30/15 Mbps 590
    50/20 Mbps 700
    80/20 Mbps 750
    100/20 Mbps 800
    150/30 Mbps 990
    200/80 Mbps 1,200

    Which one is adequate?
