    Movie File Editing Freeware

I have a number of movie files :- .avi and .mov most of them and they need some editing. Real simple stuff like spliting long clips into shorter ones or shortening some clips ... they are kid's cartons.

I've used the MovieMaker, but that changes the file type and can only played with MovieMaker software.

So, is any any half decent freeware which will do simple editing on .avi and .mov type files and keep them in that format?

    Thanks in Advance

Windows Movie Maker. Its free and does a very good, simple job of editing clips, adding titles and transitions, and adding music or commentary. You may already have it with your Windows software or download it direct from Microsoft.

(edit) sorry I just realised that you didn't want WMM because of formatting. AVC any video converter is what you need then.

Very simple and easy to use.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

older version would let you choose your AVI format, maybe that has changed with newer version

another reason why you should never upgrade software when they work well,

I steal that kind of stuff via torrents where someone has cracked the software

I feel bad sometimes about thieving from western companies, but I probably would not buy them anyway,

    best one I have is
    https://easiestsoft.com/products/mov...r-for-windows/
    but its $50 usa

    some free ones at sourceforge
    i haven't tried them
