Jeff, why on gods earth would you want a dozen or so email accounts?
Seriously, give me one viable, believable justifiable reason.
I recommend Thunderbird for the desktop and for your phone/tablet TypeApp for email.
Why so many email accts.....one for banking, one for online purchases, one for family and friends, one for the assholes you have to correspond with on occasion, one to to give to immigration...on and on, couple of extras..just in case
thanks for the sugesstions everyone
will explore them further
Nope, it's got a nice clean interface and it doesn't do HTML mail so all those ugly logos and crap that people put in their sigs don't clutter up the messages.Originally Posted by Dragonfly
It even integrates with Espeak or OSX Say so your computer can announce something when you receive a mail if you want.

I will give it to you, it has a nice simple UI
EM Client is another one, but they have gone all Win7 interface, lame

I'm liking the look of the Russian yandex one, at least at the registration page
username available !!
Never seen that in Google unless you embroider your name with a string of numbers etc..
Maybe for that reason I'll try the Japanese ones Sylpheed, though at a glance i'm not sure what it is exactly .. from the .exe its added a little program window ??
The one tommy recomended unseen.is from Iceland also looks tasty.
When my energy levels are higher, I'll make 12 new email addresses, never know when they might come in handy .
Thunderbird for PC, Boxer for Android phones and tablets. Euthanasia for Apple users.
it is an email client, which is the subject of the thread you started ...Originally Posted by blue

priceless, you cant make that shit upOriginally Posted by blue
I've just set up a new tablet. You don't have to give google a phone number. That's just to secure your account in case you forget your password. you don't have to secure itOriginally Posted by blue
See Butters, rather than explain the difference you've just become insulting.Originally Posted by Dragonfly
Guess what, nobody knows everything and from I've seen, you're a more than average example of all talk.
Since you're too busy being insulting.....
First: Email service provider - these are organizations like yahoo, google or yandex. They provide the "service". Most people log into gmail, or yahoo mail to get mail from that specific provider via a web browser of some sort.
Second: Email Clients: Personally I have a work account that's on one email service provider and several personal email accounts that are on different service providers. It would suck to have to log in to gmail to check one account, log out, then log in to another gmail account. Then do the same with the yahoo account, then with the work account.
This is where an email accumulator comes in. This is where I can send and receive email from multiple accounts from a single interface. Outlook and Thunderbird are classic examples. I wholeheartedly recommend this as you don't I use Typeapp on my android devices and Thunderbird on my desktop.
No dillinger , it's just me logging into my gmail account via my new tablet, from various wifi hot spots and that has flagged me up as a prime candidate for tasks and obedience training .
I get the blocked account message demanding a phone number, wherever I try and log in from - in otherwords if a hacker really had the account password, they could phone verify the account themselves - log in -and remove any confirmation emails etc
So not a security measure, just a pointless demand, no doubt training me up to jump trough higher hoops in the future.

Basically, you get total immunity from any crime you might commit through the use of this server.

I've been using outlook.com for a while. It allows aggregation of accounts and has a reasonable interface, plus I managed to register the whole family for accounts as firstname.surname@outlook.com when it was first launched.
You may find at https://myaccount.google.com you have 2 phase security enabled (under sign in and security, signing in to Google), in which case an attempt to sign on from a new device will require an alternate sign in, normally by entering a code sent by text to a previously registered phone number.
So, very intuitive then ? Especially if you are a Ph.D in physics.Originally Posted by BigRed
