In Search of: Penguin Wireless N USB Adapter for GNU / Linux

Hello! I am in search of a Penguin Wireless N USB Adapter for GNU / Linux (another brand that works is fine, too) I can order from Thailand. I realize I can find this item from another country, but ordering out is expensive and there is no guarantee the goods will even get to me. I find it is better whenever I can order from inside the country.

I am running Trisquel 7.0 GNU/Linux on a Dell Latitude E5500/CORE Duo and cannot connect to the Internet with the Intel wireless card inside. I need the wireless adapter in order to connect with the free software operating system.

    Anyone?

Also, I have two Broadcom wireless cards from my Dell Latitude E5500 I no longer use. Want to sell or trade.

    Thank you!

TP-link seems to play nice with linux

TP-LINK Wireless Networking, USB Adapter Thailand - invadeIT

    https://trisquel.info/en/forum/mini-...recommendation

Personally I do not recommend using the rtl8187 supported cards, which may work just fine, but it's now grossily outdated.
If an external WiFi adapter is _really_ required, and the _quality_matters_, then I recommend the TP-Link TL-WN822N v2 (FCC ID: TE7WN822NV2). This is the best external adapter I'm aware of (and I went through pretty much all the models available on the market). But again, I would rather recommend an internal card than an external.

Thanks so much for the tip... but how do I know this will work with my system? I found this one on the Web site and it looks like what I am looking for, but I cannot be sure: Buy TP-LINK N150 Wireless Nano USB Adapter (TL-WN725N) - invadeit.co.th

Or will just any of these on this page work with my system and I can take my pick?

Linux has built-in drivers for most wifi dongles but if you worry about your special distro then buy TP-Link TL-WN722N from invadeit.
It is exactly the same chipset/hardware as the Penguin dongle.

Why can't you connect with the built-in Intel card?

I believe Trisquel doesn't ship with support for proprietary things but it should be easy enough to get it working unless the card is actually broken.

This sounds really good. I will give it a shot.

    Thank you!

Nothing wrong with my Intel card. It's running like a million bucks. But the card absolutely does not run on free software, among other Linux distros it does not run on. Granted, it has been a monster huge improvement over the Broadcom card that came with this machine, but it is not perfect.
