    'tinterweb bloat

the internet is becoming infested by bit waste
at the moment I use data via my mobile phone and was looking at the rate at which I was using the data.at first I thought I was continually trickling data down , but I have had the great suspender installed on chrome to stop auto refreshes and I mainly use firefox anyway wih the full load of script stoppers , cross site requests and all the other varietys of design turds that get flung at your browser - I even use random browser agent to see the other WTF's that sites happily serve

so with everything sitting idle , no page reloading happening in the background I was seeing no bit creep on my data and thought that was good

then I refreshed teakdoor new posts - fark - 1.5 meg - WTMF - bear in mind I have all the ad pictures blocked except for the ones served from TD servers ( barring the sophie milking cow )how the fcuk does a basicall only text rendered page hit 1.5 meg ? its like power point - this is insane

imagine how long the page would take to render if you were on 56k dial up ? - 10 fcuking minutes

the 'tinterwebs is becoming a fcukup with the influx of polished turds by the graphics designers and the total wast of bandwidth that is advertising

.pushing a pig though a length of garden hose would be easier
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

Have you thought of trying Opera Mini?

You can configure it to compress all pages before they are sent to your device.

Plus you can get William Hill on it.

it has been like this for a while,

thanks to all the "ads trackers", useless "scripts" and poorly programmed "html code" by Indians that lazy tech leads put together for their corporation

that's the problem with a fast internet, webdevs become lazy and don't optimize their code. Same problem with PCs, with assumptions that a PC has more than 1GB RAM these days, apps have become memory hogs just for the fuck of it, without any justification.

I am using my laptop via wifi hotspot mostly - bypass the corporate network totally for personal email , banking and posting crude one liners on TD

    - and dolphin browser with adguard vpn for looking at pages on my device

I have no interest in using opera mini or the chrome version that does the same thing

Agree Baldrick...I also use my old Nokia phone to connect. Could not understand why data allocation was getting used up so quickly.
Have stopped opening multiple tabs for a start..have a bit logger which put me wise to the hefty increase in the volume of data xfer.
Some news sites have auto start videos which is a fking annoying waste.
I was told many years ago that MS did not rewrite new windows releases just added script...hence data hogging.

Hardware specs on phones/computers have increased, but so have ads, flash and general bling... windoze has become more and more bloated with each iteration, so the net effect of better hardware/more ram, etc.. has been muted by all the crap..

A few years ago ADSL was sufficient for most users. Now, fibre optic is the minimum to achieve what ADSL used to, due to more ads/bloat...

I used to love opera - because when you clicked the back button (or right then left mouse button) the porn ooops.. I mean images, would be saved in cache so render instantly.. now that's gone.. so everything is re-loaded, consuming more bandwidth...

Ahhh advancement and technology... gotta love it...

My "basic" package gets me 6Gb of mobile data a month. With Wifi around everywhere I never exceed that, and I'm forever on the fucking thing with work emails, etc.

Not savvy enough to analyze the prob but last couple days TD taking forever. No prob on any other sites. I am on a 3g connection using chrome. Never super fast but for whatever reason TD super slow. 5 to 10 secs to load a page. Very irritating.
