Phones, Nige, are errm, all the bloody same...

You know I love the Sonys. But, I now have an LG G3 Cat6, the best out there. It's the bloody same as my Sony Xperia z that I got 12 months ago. It's the same as the new iTard 6. It's the same as the Note4 (actually, I reckon the Note 4 is just about th best option out there, but bloody expensive), it's the same as the HTC One version...x...

They are all the bloody same. This year's, next year's, last year's... all the same. They are all very good. &, they are all expensive for the new ones, cheaper for the less new ones, and cheaper still for the even lesser new ones. But, the xperia z and the G3 cat6 (latest everything) are still the bloody same...

Personally, I like the Sony SW for the look and feel and the media aspects (especially the music and video), but others may not... It's all bolloks. I will not be buying top end phones again because the one that was top end 6 months before is half the price and the same...

Well ,, IF when I get this replacement back and it performs as it should we will see.

I really like the camera / video of this phone and the SD card storage facility as opposed to the old iPhone 4s I had , so for me this looked the best replacement .

I,m not having a very good run of luck at the moment , slightly off topic but similar vein , I recently bought a new/ secondhand car a 55 plate Ford Focus 2.0l diesel ghia model , had it less than 12 hours took it back as it was bolloxed on the way home , took 2 weeks to repair it ( not at my expense I might add ) ,, then got it back ,, and TBH its the dogs dangly bits of a car now ,, love it to bits

Hoping ( in the end ) the phone is gonna end up a similar result

Don't do that or you'll never get them off the thing and it will come back with a hundred shitty teenager apps on it.

I had my eye on the Xperia z3 compact, given the specs on paper rival/beat the I-phone. It looks like I dodged a bullet.

Once I had my hands on it, memories of the original Xperia z came flooding back (so many software glitches, famous sudden death issue, etc..)

Looks good on paper though, just didn't feel right in my hand (better under my foot).
Reasonably happy with my lg g2, aside from a few minor issues.

To be honest, I've had all the top-end phones, none really stand out as being best.
They all have pros cons, most of the android phones are great on paper, but are let down by weak software.

Iphone lost the plot with their latest iteration iphone 6 and 6 plus - they both look comical, like they have tried to copy their competition handsets but lost their iphone look in the process.

Hopefully 2015 will bring something that wows me, not just spec wise - but build and functionality as well.

Best all-round phone I've ever had, was galaxy 2. Back in, shit 2011??

Wasn't the fastest, or best on paper... but damn, it just felt right - did everything
I needed without any annoying glitches. Then I got sucked in and I sold it for the Note 1 and it all went south from there on in...

I think they just aim for high-spec on paper, just to entice the geek in you, but the software bottlenecks all the horsepower (ghz and shit) to really function/perform properly.

it was - when it came out it was a turning point in smart phones - it was a great phone

I swapped from my nokia 6110 navigator to android because it had the combination of specs I was waiting for

it is still in use by my sister in law who got it when I upgraded to the note 2 which is what I use now.

Right just to balance the books an UPDATE on this phone .

I have been sent a brand new one in a sealed box this time , and it all works beautifully out the box !

Firstly apologies to Sony + Betty this Z3 compact is a cracking phone with a cracking camera to boot ,, which is why I bought the dam thing in the first place .

This is the best phone/camera I have ever owned , its 20.7 million pixel camera + ultra high def video + its incredible / unbelievable battery life + the ability to carry 128 gig of storage makes this a winner for me

I believe it has a quad core processor + 2 gig of ram up front so its a quicky , the compact size and shape makes it a joy to have in your pocket .

small downside , the sim is fiddly to insert , but will be nice to watch the nice young Thai candy fixing it for helpless old me

Now then ,, where exactly are those itards??

Glad it's working out for you, Nige.

I think the point of this phone is it's 200 pounds cheaper than an iPhone 6 with decent storage, yet equal or better in every way.

Sony phones were shite, but they've upped their game in the last couple of years. I've found the multimedia experience and s/w skin miles better on the Sony than on LG or Samsung phones. Glad to see that Sony have finally sorted out that bloody camera!

I simply do not understand this phone business.
A phone makes and receives calls, and allows messaging. Why is it so imperative to have one which is a camera and a computer too?
Since when did it become so vital that folk never the left the house without their camera. Are we all wannabe paparazzi? If one is going down the pub, going shopping, taking a drive through the countryside, visiting wherever, doing whatever, why the fuck do you need to be online.

Christ, get a phone for a tenner, stick your IPad in the car if you are that neurotic and think you might have a mental breakdown if you can't find out who scored the second goal in the 1979 FA Cup final, and carry a decent camera if you need to take snaps of every fuckimg mundane second of your life.

    Simple really.

Super Amoled, Snapdragon, data streaming via the Mars orbiter, 4g protocol my arse.

" I'll be home in an hour and fancy steak and kidney pie " on any fucking device is the same for Chrissakes.

Christ, why has the human race gone so stupid?

Got any pics of that pie Gent in the dinner thread ??

Right now then ,, why do I want a camera + phone ?

Ok my hobby is painting and I can capture many great scenes as I travel around in my lorry every day , places I am being paid to deliver to ,, the same places I have no access to in my private car ,, just for starters .

That takes care of the camera side of things ,

Now for the phone bit ,, my dear brother and his personal carers have a direct line to me anywhere I am , phone is always on by my bed ,, as he is likely to croak it at anytime with his illness ,, ok this has only got to this stage twice in the last 10 years , but if its that serious I wanna be with him at that point .

The iPad is too big to go in my pockets ,, so this delightful little Sony Z3 compact does all these tasks + many more , thats why I have one

what on earth do you need a picture of a steak and kidney pie for? you know what they look like already.

we all managed just fine 10 years ago without these unnecessary distractions in our lives. there are very few people in the world who need to be accessible 24 hours a day.

    I wanna
sadly, thats what it is all about. i want, i want, i want, me, me, me, gimme, gimme, gimme, we are turning into a race of self obsessed narcissists, and it can only end in tears.

the quality of ones life improves immeasurably when ones phone is turned off, or better still discarded.

    I don't know anyone who's on the phone 24 hours a day.

You know you can turn them off or onto silent right?

'Arry and I both know who scored the one and only goal in the 1978 cup final, but I won't mention it or 'Arry surely will have a mental breakdown...
