    Windows flagged as not genuine.

My computer is about 2 yrs old and I had a copy of Win 7 put on when I bought. I had automatic updates turned off.

Unfortunately it was turned on again, and now I get:

    On my desktop.

I have all the important porn backed up on an External HDD anyway, but what is likely to happen? Can they remotely shut down the fake windows? They've already stamped the desktop.

No, they just annoy you with the desktop and stop updates.

OK, I'm gonna go way out on a limb here, way WAY out, real outside the box cray-cray thinking, don't jump all over me - it is just spitballing:

Have you considered, you know, buying a license!

Not that windows genuine is very safe, you do realise that un-genuine versions are not safe at all, not least from the fecker who put it on your computer in the first place.

    However...

    1.open comand prompt
    2.now type SLMGR -REARM
    3.click enter and close
    Now after few seconds
    Restart ur pc..
Thatsall..it bcoms genuine (well, the pop up goes apparently)

Do you plan to go to university when you finish high school, or just hang around your mom's house.

More importantly, who allows anyone [but themselves] to install an OS blindly?

Possibly because it's what most applications are written for, but if you just spend most of your time writing crap on web browsers you can do that on anything.

David's spell checker works too, it's just that the dictionary it uses was written by a dyslexic random character generator with passive-aggressive daddy issues and a drinking problem.

i have genuine windows- came with the laptop- but i started getting that not genuine message.
which was funny as It's the only genuine paid for prog on my laptop.

This was a year or so ago so might have changed.

Windows sends update - (KB971033) which is an anti piracy check .
Find it on your view updates history(Control Panel ▼ All Control Panel Items ▼ Windows Update ▼ View update history ) and remove it.
''To remove an update, see Installed Updates. ''

    Then with this option selected:
''Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them''

get windows to check for updates, kb971033 will be suggested , click on it - then right click and choose ''hide update'' and it wont bother you again.

Are you guys saying that the Chinese have been turning out fake Windows? Stealing intellectual property; violating copyright and patent laws... This is too shocking to believe.

If this is true we should start manufacturing plastic dragons, red lanterns and shit like that to flood their market.....bastards.

Again: If all you use your computer for is spouting shit through a web browser, who gives a toss?
