    Iphone 5 ..in the drawer

Hi..tried to enjoy my iphone 5 ..to big in the pocket, don't need to walk around with a computer.Back in the drawer.

Pulled out the $20 Nokia..small ..easy to text, has alarm, no camera..screen barely visible though.

Went and bought a $50 Nokia, put screen saver on it.

Simple things are so much easier to use.

Totally agree. I have a cheapo Nokia that is now 12 years old. It sends and receives texts and calls perfectly, which is all I care about. Phone company gives me a couple free smart phones every year or so, they go directly to my wife and kids, or to the maids. Why the fuck would I want to lug something around all day so I could check e-mails? They'll wait. If I didn't need the phone to call my driver, or occasionally my wife, I'd pitch that in the bin as well.

Ive got one of the Nokia (no camera ) phones, have had it for about 3 years now. Its a tidy little phone and the battery power lasts for ages, A blackberry has come and gone in that time.

Shame you had to buy it to find out it was too big.

I can't believe all the people lugging tablets around.

OK if you are Moses and have a few commandments to negotiate I suppose.

I can see the combination of a tablet and a basic phone making sense.

It's these ever larger smart phones that I'd avoid on size considerations.

A literal pain in the nether regions.

    Horses for courses.

If you don't want to be driving a Lambo on the information superhighway, just keep pottering around the back streets in your Citroen 2CV.

Agree with you Cyrille, combination of both in one.
For me spent hours a day on phones, in front of computer, now phone rings maybe 10 times a day,

At 60 , small phone in pocket , simple.

    That's it isn't it.

    I'm a teacher. ( )

Can't see any reason why a teacher would need to be making more than half a dozen phone calls a day. Also I don't have kids, which decreases the need still further.

If I were a financial adviser (god forbid) or something like that it'd be different.

I've got a colleague who's into all the latest tech. I got a message from him the other day, presumably meant for his wife, asking 'What did you have for lunch?'

I can survive until I get home without being in possession of such scintillating information.

^Indeed. My professional life would have been much different had these devices been available back when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. But they weren't....

Now, semi-retired, I deal with the business via a daily phone call or two to my partner. My wife might call once a day if she's out somewhere. I doubt that I make/receive more than a few calls a day, and a few texts.

I have always thought success was defined by a lack of ball and chain, and not by adding more..................

I lived for decades without carrying a camera with me 24/7.....reckon I'll survive now.

I bet the iPhone 5 is half the thickness of your Nokia

Are you sure it's an iPhone and not an iMobile ?

    Well, I love my iphone.
Great camera without having to "look after" a camera.
In the car it is both stereo and gps.
When I'm forced to wait it's my ipod and book reader.
When I get home it syncs my bookmarks to my ipad so i pick up on the right page.
The only thing I don't use it for is a phone....

If you don't know what you'd do with a smartphone, then it's almost certain that you don't need one.
